Went for 1st time....had been recommended by a friend. Loved it...lots to do for all the family....Loved the blend of the library and museum....the Dutch history mixed with the Maori history was fantastic, informative and fun for the family. Totally recommend to all to visit.
Whoa... What a beautiful place. Fascinating! You wouldn't expect this in Foxton. I loved the stories they tell in the museums. About mana whenua, the Dutch immigrants, and the early pioneering days of our country and Foxton. The birthplace of the Manawatu, apparently. Great to see Foxton soaking up all this culture. Great day out for the family. Would highly recommend it!
Lovely food and coffee. Would have been nice to have had a smile from the young lady who served us. Makes all the difference
The cafe has excellent food an coffee. Made locally down the road by Sweet Dreams cafe, so many choices, and the cakes so yummy. Staff friendliest around. Clean an tidy makes it a gem of a place to have a great lunch or brunch.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Knew this place from Quartz Museum of Studio when I was in Whanganui. So I visited here when I was on my way to southern of North Island. A great little museum. Telling the history of the Dutch immigrants. Library looks fantastic. Toilet is clean.
A great little museum combined with a library. I saw the Anne Frank exhibition here in their separate exhibition room, it was beautiful and sobering. The main area celebrates both local Maori history and the Dutch immigrants that settled in the area. There's also a board where visitors are encouraged to write who they are and where they're from, it's interesting to see how far some have come from. There's also a Lego area for the kids and a cafe. Well worth a visit, particularly if you have a Dutch connection.
Lovely place to learn about the area and also learn about New Zealand's history. I wish I had more time to explore this wonderful pocket of information.
Had a great time, lunch at cafe, looked around museum, very worth while, then went to flaxer striper museum. Weather was wet so good place to go.
A lovely place to visit even if you are not searching for a book. Follow the local Maori connections down one side and the Dutch on the other, seamlessly meeting to create one amazing space. A cafe, large open areas and windows create a light space perfect for a lazy afternoons reading.
Great photographic exhibition of Ans Westra's work, and a pleasant time at the Dutch Day Out.
