Stop at this pretty reserve if you are taking the Huntley- Rangarei loop off State Highway 1. It has a carpark if you want to follow the Te Araoa - The long walk way to Rangarei 12 km or Meremere 30km. Or just a nice place to stop by the river, with views of the Power Station and two powerful sculptures. Nice grassed areas to stop for a picnic, and has access to the river. Saw lots of young Tui feeding on the flax flowers Dec. Only issue was that the bins had not been emptied but the rest was really pretty.

Great spot off the beaten track. Well sheltered and peaceful for a one night FC.
Thought this might be a good place to stop and eat afternoon tea, but we wish we'd picked somewhere else. Pikes of rubbish at the side of the carpark and an overflowing bin :- And there is a wasp nest in the carving....
