Te Anau Wildlife Centre

Great place to visit with the family on a quiet afternoon. There is a good selection of birds to choose from, and if you are lucky you might get the chance to feed them! This sanctuary is a good, all-weather activity bring a jacket! and is bound to give you a spot of fun.

Brillant Sanctuary. Well worth a visit. Saw the Takahe feeding. The wings were fun. Please make a donation when you visit as there must be expensive upkeep here. Every little bit helps.

Went on the feeding tour with the local DOC ranger get the $10 tickets at the DOC Fiordland Visitor Centre. She was lovely and interesting and we got to see the Takahe quite close! If you don't get tickets, please make a little donation to support their valuable work. Highly recommend a visit there if you have some time in Te Anau.

Nice bird sanctuary. A few different species to see. The kids will love it. And very nice for photography too. Don't let the weather put you off, its amazing to visit

Lots of birds , nice area, friendly staff, some areas its hard to spot birds

Gorgeous little sanctuary that's incredibly well maintained. All birds were happy and friendly and clearly well cared for. A place I'd recommend for any age, on your own, a couple, or a family. Clear signage and informative/interesting signboards.

So good to see some of our very rare Takahe.

Great wee place with Takahe, Kaka, a Morepork and other birds. Also a great walking track.

Parakeets are playful, good work by DOC looking after the birds.

Great little bird sanctuary. Not too many types of Native birds but the rare ones are there. It is free to look around.
