Story

Tawa College is a coeducational school (year 9 - year 13) situated in Tawa, New Zealand, and its principal is Murray Lucas. The Tawa College magazine is called Tawahi (pronounced tawa - he). There are currently around 80 teaching staff and 20 support staff. Tawa College was officially opened in July 1961 and has always maintained a close involvement with the life of the local community, particularly through music and sport.DemographicsAt the September 2012 Education Review Office (ERO) review, Tawa College had 1417 students enrolled, including nine international students. Forty-six percent of students were male and 54 percent were female. Fifty-seven percent of students identified as New Zealand European (Pākehā), 16 percent identified as Māori, 14 percent as Asian, 12 percent as Pacific Islanders, and one percent as another ethnicity.Tawa College has a socio-economic decile of 8 (step P), meaning it draws its school community from areas moderately-high socioeconomic status when compared to other New Zealand schools. The school was recategorised from decile 9 (step Q) in January 2015, as part of the nationwide review of deciles following the 2013 census.UniformThe traditional colours of Tawa College are blue, red and yellow, as seen in the school uniform, sports strips and crest. The uniform skirt for the girls is a kilt made of Duncan tartan. The college has special permission from the Scottish clan, to whom the tartan belongs (as intellectual property), to use the tartan in its uniform.

Solid 2 stars, not the worst, only 1 stabbing and biweekly fire alarms, I also got beat up by a guy with knife once. Definitely not the best either, wi-fi isn't reliable and teachers care more for getting overachievers to go above and beyond than helping those who are struggling to pass observation, not experience. Still, a fair few great teachers and, at least in my cohort, a good sense of community.
bathrooms kinda rank, someone smeared poo on the wall mr gb is cool tho & mr stone is also cool
Worst school in New Zealand that i've ever seen. Learning is very slow, wastes all of their money on things they do not need. School always has damages they don't fix, students and teachers are bad. dont go thanks. Also there is no roller coaster so 1/5.
I couldn't give it 0 stars so they're lucky to get a 1. Teachers treat students with potential very poorly. Also very discriminating if you're not a straight excellence student or heavily involved with extra curriculars.
I don't even go here this school just sounds trash
Terrible with mental health issues, the learning support teachers are cruel. If your child doesn't need this kinda support then they'll "probably" be ok

Went to daughter's teacher / patent interviews. Was totally stoked with level of insight and connection with my child. Great learning outcomes, amount of curriculum choices and engagement in u understanding the learning style and focus of our child. Couldn't be happier.
It's a good place.
A nice place to go to. Easy chill school if you are laid back. Bring gas masks to school cuz of all the vape clouds in the bathrooms
