Played 28th Nov 24.nnCalled in the AM.nGot a slot for the PM.nWent early and got an earlier slot.nFriendly guys at front desk.nRental clubs worked fine.nThe rental bags however were kinda tired. nLoved the place.nOverall easy going and friendly.nPlayed at our own pace.nWhilst its not a hard course, stay clear from the rough... It's like THE ABYSS. No balls were found. nnSome greens were being aerated however.nnLove the users here! All with respect for the bunkers and the fairway... Unlike in Asia where typical users don't bother at all nnNot cheap but well for what's its worth, it's an experience and one for the Gram / Strava.
$110 for a course of that condition is daylight robbery in my opinion. I appreciate it’s the middle of summer and is a bit dry, but the routing is boring and offers no interesting holes. $60-70 would be an appropriate price
Taupo Golf Club has two courses- Tauhara, shorter and and the cheaper of the courses and more suited to the casual golfer, and Centennial, longer and more challenging, especially off the blue tees! I've played both in the past and enjoyed them both but today I played Centennial both because I wanted to get around it again and it was far less busy than Tauhara with holiday golfers.nI joined 2 members for the front 9. Bill and Wayne were in their 60's I think and a pleasure to play with. We all found our way around the course on our own different ways proving that the course is challenging to all golfers but also open to being played on different ways. The greens were in great nick despite being recently cored so I was told, and were running at a nice speed and running true. The scenery is fantastic as well. I liked the welcome I got from the pro shop to Bill and Wayne whom I met on the 1st tee. I'll definitely be back in Taupo again this year and I'll be coming to Centennial for another round too- I definitely recommend it.nPS I especially enjoyed the 9th hole, a real looker off the tee.
I’m not the best golfer. However I do appreciate the views, charm and friendliness of golf clubs. Taupo disappointed. Two 18 hole courses in the one location without explanation confused me. Centennial course “sounded” like the one to play. Views, course, and price really sucked. I’ve had far better views, courses and prices at country courses. Would I go back? No
We are mid handicap golfers. The pro shop staff were great and helpful. We played the Tauhara course. It was in great condition, views great with nice open fairways. Highlights 16, 17 par 3’s with an elevated green then a steep drop to the green. Would certainly return for another round.
