I attended a one-day chainsaw course. Taratahi was very well set up, with all the equipment and expertise you'd expect. The people are friendly. But the course wasn't really for beginners who knew nothing about chainsaws. It was a refresher course for people who already knew what they were doing. But I learned a lot and I had a good chance to practice my new skills.
Thanks Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre 2018. My visit to the agriculture centre after many years. Was quick. Myself and and an old student return for old times sake. Was hoping for a refreshing journey for Sam and her new life up in the Waikato dairy industry. Remembering the beginning, Helps us count the steps to success. Thanks to Sydney reception and kitchen staff. For your warm welcome and sincere home feeling from you as Maori staff members. Was impressed with the many Maori students participating in the programs at tatc these days Kia Kaha Maori Tamariki. Maori investments paying off at last. MAORI FARMERS ON MAORI FARMS. MAORI LEADERSHIP, MAORI FUTURE'S MAORI INDUSTRY'S The Maori promise for a better future, a better place for all. A better nation for all. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Taratahi is currently being run under the umbrella of UCOL and does a variety of practical agriculture courses, some of which are free and include food and accommodation, under the MPI Covid recovery program. Taratahi was started after WWII to teach farming skills to veterans, and later taught farming cadets, and eventually other agriculture students until it closed with financial problems in 2019. Situated 5km from Masterton, it has quality single room accommodation for nearly 100 students in a beautiful rural campus and farm, reflecting it’s history. Having done a course there recently, I would highly recommend Taratahi under UCOL to potential agriculture students.
