A community page about management and protection of Taranaki's vibrant environment, as well as transport, Yarrow Stadium and our three public gardens.
Taranaki Regional Council works with residents, to care for Taranaki.
It protects and manages the environment, ensures the sustainable use of natural resources, runs Civil Defence for Taranaki, manages Tupare, Pukeiti and Hollard Gardens on behalf of the people of the region, is the 100% shareholder of Port Taranaki, and leads the regional push to ensure Taranaki gets the highway network and other transport infrastructure it needs.
Our 11 councillors are elected from four constituencies - North Taranaki (two), New Plymouth (five), Stratford (one) and South Taranaki (three).
Our Mission is to contribute towards a thriving and prosperous Taranaki by:
* promoting sustainable use, development and protection of our natural and physical resources
* safeguarding people and resources from natural hazards and other hazards
* promoting and providing for regionally significant services, amenities and infrastructure
* representing Taranaki’s interests and contributions to the regional, national and international community.
