The course itself is in decent condition, and the cafe/bar is well appointed. However, the other facilities including the pro shop and the driving range are in declining condition and need some refresh/maintenance/upgrade.
This is a fairly decent course in the middle of auckland. Very flat holes. It's OK for a hit out, has excellent facilities including a ful driving range. but there are much more challenging / interesting courses out there
I’ve only used the driving range - very busy but a good driving range $17 for 100 balls
13 of us celebrated my 40th Birthday with 9 holes of golf on Saturday. Everyone was looking forward to it until we got there and interacted with the staff! Firstly the guy in the office was very rude and not very helpful, he was very pushy as we were a little bit late and also wouldn’t let me use a golf trolley for free given that mine broke on route, saying to me ‘we are a golf course we are here to make money’. I play Takapuna golf course once or twice a week and up until Saturday, had only nice things to say. I think I will start looking else were! Secondly, one of our groups were teeing off from the second tee, when an employee came over in a golf cart, telling the group to hurry up! I had a talk with him and said everyone has paid exactly the same amount, if others have to wait then so be it. It happens all the time when I play on a Friday afternoon and I never see staff telling people to hurry up. It was just rude.
Extremely rude staff at the pro shop. Won’t let you reserve a spot for you and some friends, they tell you to physically come in and book and pay, and on dotgolf app you have to pay for each person to book, meaning I have to pay for 3 other playing partners up front and then they have to pay me back. Only club in Auckland to do this which is ironic considering it’s one of the more average courses around.
Takapuna golf course serves well to busy Aucklanders being in the reasonably central location with nice facility. Little wet in winter and can be very busy when weather is fine.
The driving range is a great value for a fun outing. We went for a double date and had a great time.

Great facility that has everything you need to learn, practice & play the game. Suitable for newcomers, beginners & experienced golfers.
Needs lights from mid field onwards. Can’t see where the ball land and the practice defects it’s purpose
