Tahawai marae was established 18 November 1971 as a Maori reservation for the purposes of marae and recreation grounds for the beneficiaries of Te Tahaawai Hapu (NZ, Gazette 1971)
Tara Hape, Sarah Rudolph, Mary Hape, Bryce Smith, Hazel Hape, Maungaroa Toetoe, Darryl Hape were mandated by the Maori Land Court Kaikohe, 21 March 2014 as Marae Trustees.
Te Runanga O Whaingaroa delegates for Tahawai marae are David Arama & Maata Heta they will liaise and consult with the Runanga on behalf of Marae beneficiaries regarding issues that affect us as Tahawai marae and hapu beneficiaries.
