A very casual cruise on this 100+ year old steam boat in perfect conditions. The boat just glides through the providing a very smooth experience. Dropped by to see the coal being loaded to keep the boat running. Inside there are plenty of seats and tables on both levels as well as a cafe. The outside viewing areas provide good vantage points to take photos or just relax on the seats, particularly down the side of the boat. Overall a great experience with the staff very efficient and welcoming.
We found a nice spot below deck as it was rather busy. We ordered some drinks and enjoyed the stunning views. A really neat boat to walk through and rewind time. You can see the engine operating and the captain gives some great stories also. Great bar staff who are very attentive and make yum food. Recommend this to anyone who visits qt
What a cool boat tour! Seeing the employees shovel the coal in to keep the boat going was so neat! And seeing the engine running with all its moving parts, all from a high vantage point was awesome. It also supplies lots of heat! The views from the outside decks are fantastic. We went on a particularly cloudy and rainy day, but we still had a good time.
I haven’t taken any of steam ship in my life and this was the first time to take it. It was fair price. Try to get ticket on online then you don’t really need to wait to get it. They have coffee and drink on the ship and snacks. Also you can see all the machine and people who work at the ship. Recommend to do if you are planning on going Queenstown
We visited our son in Queenstown 3 years ago from the UK before the world turned upside down for a little while. We cruised on Earnslaw and thoroughly enjoyed the bbq. Today, 3 years later, before we head home, we have cruised and eaten the fabulous food again. The welcoming staff could not have done more - they were wonderful! The day was absolutely spectacular and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a lovely feast. We look forward to our next visit
Absolutely loved this! Steam ships are few and far between these days. You can see the stoker's in the engine room shovelling coal into the boiler! In fact, there is an overhead viewing platform where you can observe the engines working. She's like a working museum. Wonderful to see her so well looked after. It's nice and cosy inside the passenger areas. Food and drinks were good and there is a pianist playing easy listening music.
It's a 110 year old steam ship which only runs on coal - how cool is that? And she looks pretty damn fine for 110 years don't you think? There is even a bar and a pianist on board. Have you ever been on board of a 110 year old ship enjoying a cold brew and listening to a live pianist? No? Well what are you waiting for then??
What a great trip and BBQ well worth the time and money for this trip. So much to see and the food is amazing good. Bigger groups seem to be seated together while couples and smaller groups are separate..they cone round for drinks order's and then tell you when to go and get your foid..groups go up first. But plenty for all. You can go back up and your plates will be removed. Then after a walk outside and meet the dog's and see a small demonstration and a chance to ho into the gift shop..not long enough time in gift shop..toilets in the main building and behind the gift shop..beautiful gardens and mountain views.
A unique experience if you’re in Queenstown. The boat cruise was amazing. I love how you get to roam around the ship, including the engine room, and be blessed with the beautiful views from all angles. The engine room was the highlight of the cruise, you see stokers constantly filling the chambers with coal to maintain the heat for the steam, you see the engineer working on the steam engines. It was pretty cool even for someone like me who has no idea about ships and its inner workings. We chose to sit on the lower deck, just next to the engine room. The views were just as amazing as the top deck. We got the walter peak farm package and got to see and feed farm animals, had some tea and watched a dog and sheep shearing show. Overall, I would say that it isn’t the cheapest experience and not everyone would be able to afford it. But if possible, I’d say give just the cruise a go. The views are just stunning and its not everyday that you get to be on a historic boat like the TSS Earnslaw There’s no parking nearby, so you would have to find paid parking nearly impossible to find free parking in the city and take a rough 10mins walk depends on where you park really to the RealNZ booth along the boardwalk.
A must do in Queenstown!! Awesome to learn about the ship and see how it all works and operates from inside. Lots of historical charm and information inside as well. Beautiful scenic ride across the lake to Walter Peak. Lots of different places to sit, nice to have a cafe/bar on board to make the experience even better.
