A group of local residents who are concerned about the consequences of Councils' proposals have formed an incorporated society called Sustainable Glenorchy.
Sustainable Glenorchy was born out of frustrations in dealing with the Council about the impending wastewater scheme in Glenorchy. The group of 16 (and growing) fully understand and support the need for a community wastewater scheme for Glenorchy.
However, we are really worried that not only will Council’s decisions result in a scheme that is far more expensive than it need be but it also won’t address the list of issues that the residential and business community have repeatedly said are important to them.
1. To ensure outcomes for Glenorchy that are consistent with:
* The principles of sustainable management
* The Glenorchy Community Plan.
2.To ensure that local government decisions that affect the people and the environment of Glenorchy are made with meaningful public involvement and discussion with reliable information through transparent processes and integrity.
3. Where necessary, to pursue any or all available options and actions to achieve the above purposes.
