Donna and Chris were great hosts. The weather was rather wet, but nothing they could do about that. The room was nice and cozy, and the breakfast provided was lovely. Very welcoming and provided some great tourism options for the area. Would absolutely stay there again. Also appreciated were the morning pats with Rover.Rooms: 5/5
We had the best time at Sunlover Retreat. We were sent here as a surprise anniversary get away. When we arrived we were greater by the amazing host Donna. She had iced water and fresh heated face towels for us to refresh after our trip. Donna then showed us around. To say the place was beautiful was an understatement. It was so amazing and just blew us away. It is not just the location but rather the attention to detail throughout the retreat. Everything you could ever need is available to you. Also just the little added extras such as having fresh bread baked and waiting for you in the morning. We stayed 2 nights and it was heaven. I would totally recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting a great time away!
A beautiful big room with walk in dressing room, and bathroom with shower and bath. Separate private entrance. Stunning views across the estuary and the garden. One of the things we loved most was having breakfast with Donna and Chris, the owners, who were able to give us a real insight into New Zealand life, as well as recommending excellent walks and excursions in the area. The 200 steps down into town took very little time and helped us wear off some of the calories from the excellent dinners we had in a local restaurant. And Rover the dog is a super friendly host!
Sunlover Retreat was AMAZING . The setting is beautiful, the accommodation is very nice, a perfect mix of luxury, character and incredible big windows opening on to a view of Tairua . Donna & Chris are wonderful too, professional and the perfect 'Kiwi hosts' warm, helpful and friendly. The 'dining in' experience with a local chef coming to cook was a great added bonus too, I highly recommend it. Great food .
Wonderful stay at Sunlovers Retreat. Donna sorted everything for us before we arrived. She greeted us at the door with a nice cold glass of water and warm facecloth. We settled in, and she whizzed away to get the amazing grazing platter and bottle of wine ready. The rooms were immaculate, 5-star accommodation. Breakfast was beautiful and the conversations and laughs with Donna & Chris just topped it off. Personal chef for one of the nights was a bonus! Thanks very much guys. Fran & Leah
WOW! Where do I start? From the moment we arrived until our departure Which by the way I didn't want to happen we were made to feel welcome. This place is truly paradise, leaving this place which I didn't want to happen Have I mentioned that already? Donna is there when you need her but at the same time leaves you to enjoy the beautiful splendour of her place. Beautiful accommodation, absolutely comfortable beds Best nights sleep ever an amazing grazing board, soft fleece bathrobes, freshly homemade sourdough bread, homemade Greek yoghurt, muesli and Anzac biscuits Please take me back I could go on for ever. <3 <3 Thank you Donna and Chris for the perfect getaway!
Like discovering you have long lost relatives and they live in a fab place in a stunning location and have just invited you to stay….. The welcome and hospitality could not have been warmer or more genuine; the suite and views are to die for, and the local area is definitely worth exploring … We loved our stay and meeting Donna and Chris and Rover, thank you.
This is the most wonderful place for a romantic getaway ….Donna is a qualified celebrant so you can even have your little escape from the maddening crowds turned into a wedding celebration. Best breakfasts and such a warmth of welcome …..my third visit and have already booked the next ..
The room, the breakfast, the view, the hottub, Donna, Chris & Rover,... We loved every part of our stay! Definitely our best, most surprising stay during our trip in New Zealand. We would recommend this lovely B&B to everyone who wants to visit the Coromandel!
We had a fantastic time. The room and the view was fantastic. Really enjoyed the breakfast, we sat at a large table with the other guests and our hosts talking about all sorts of things. Had a lovely evening meal for two cooked by a chef who designed the meal to our tastes.Rooms: 5/5
