I have been to New Zealand many times, and I can never find a reason not to come back again. the South Island is, all in all, an even more pure island with more nature and fewer people. as it is considerably further south than the northern parts of North Island, you can experience a climate much more moderate. it rains a lot on the West Coast, but the east gets a fair amount of sunshine.
This island has everything you could wish for in an island. If you get washed up and stranded on this island your chances of survival would be considered 'very high'. I washed up here 39 years ago and am still alive to this day. In this time I have photographed a few pretty places that I would like to share with you, just in case you too get stranded here, even just for a week or two. Tekapo, Queenstown, Kaikoura, Fiordland, Wanaka and Ashburton Lakes are represented in these photos. 5 out of 5 stars - highly recommend getting stranded here.
Have to see it to believe it, simply incredible. Everything is so accessible. If you love the outdoors South is for you! If you want to get away from the city life South is for you. Mountain biking heaven, snowboarding paradise, hiking everywhere.
I love it. Travel around as much as I can. Roads are amazing and the views are some of the best in the world. I love going through the southern alps but the coastlines are amazing as well. I'll return here to live one day
Just one the most beautiful places on Earth. I have been lucky enough to visit the South Island several times and never tire of the amazing scenery such the Remarkable’s to name one. Queenstown is one of my favourite places as well as Nelson both different in styles but both very friendly places full of exiting views and activities, great selection of restaurants, bars and shops.
Too many beautiful places to visit!
My friend and I hired a car and did a 1600 km road trip around the south island and wow. It was one of my favourite holidays. There is so much to see and do especially if you love the outdoors. Accommodation was no issue, Airbnb and backpackers were reasonably priced for excellent value. The roads are in great condition however be warned that the distances between places may be short it takes a fair bit longer as its all mountain passes. Queenstown is a must do but be prepared to spend a bit more money than you will in the other town. The locals are great and everything is in English which makes it super easy for any tourist. The place is safe but I would always recommend that you exercise caution. Enjoy
I love it was born in Christchurch but never lived in South island I have been here a year now in kaikoura South Bay we have moved to and will never look back this is home now and we love it living by the beach
Out of this world!!! What a beautifull place New Zealand, this is a autenthic paradise from north to south, east to west, serious i got no words for describe the beauties of this place. Here I share some pics. Hope you like it. I just can say visit this place!!!
It's an amazing place if you can't see a mountain, waterfall, beach, river ,lake or all of the above you are not in the South Island
