Amazing fish and chips. Very satisfying, so it’s easy to see why this place is so popular! But… if a takeaway place is going to be so popular, it needs to have an order numbering system that works. After waiting 45 minutes, our number was called. I went to collect our order, only to be told that someone else has the *exact same* number, so our order was not actually ready. And it wouldn’t be for *another* 45 minutes. If we’d known from the get go that it’d take 1 1/2 hours to prepare our takeaway order, we’d have gone somewhere else. No matter how good the fish and chips are! Two suggestions to make the customer experience so much better: 1. Use unique numbers. No way should it be possible for multiple customers to have the same order number. It’s both confusing and disappointing that your food won’t be ready for another 45 minutes, after already waiting 45 minutes, despite your number having been called. 2. Use a sequential numbering system. Without one, it’s totally impossible to tell where you in are in the queue. Orders jump around — from number 32 to number 78 to number 25 — in a way that just seems totally random. If numbers are sequential based on when the order is made, then it would be so much easier to tell where you are in the queue and how long the wait will be. I don’t mind waiting a while if I know my number is 50 and the order that is ready is number 10, as I know I’m 40th in the queue. It’s annoying being constantly on edge waiting for your random number which could be the same as someone else’s to be called at any moment, without having any idea as to how many orders are ahead in the queue/how long the wait will be. Great food but no way would we go back if the experience is going to be so confusing, with no indication of how long the wait will be.
Very friendly staff. Onion rings were a little over seasoned but the best crumbed rings I’ve had. Shout out to the staff that were being abused by an unreasonable customer.
This shop is quite busy at dinnertime. There is an extensive menu board to choose from with fish and chip style and Asian takeaways, including frozen desserts and drinks. A popular shop with the locals. Vegetarian options: Other customers were ordering vegeterian burgers to take out. Parking: The main street parking was limited due to the buxy time of the day, however there is additional parking behind the shops. Wheelchair accessibility: The shop has wheelchair access. However there are steps that should be avoided.
All the food is a bit pricey but that is the sign of the times. I got in before the dinner rush so food was decent. I've had better and I've had much worse. It's okFood: 4/5
Good. All the standard options. A good range of fish available and you can have it cooked battered, grilled or crumbed. Chips were well cooked and a single scoop was a reasonable size serve. Would go back.
Went during the afternoon and the food was plentiful, well cooked and was served rapidly. I will go back againFood: 5/5
Best fish and chips we’ve ever had tonight
Nice area for takeaways. Food was average, nothing amazing. But service is great.Food: 3/5
Fish filets as thin as the newspaper they're wrapped in, soft and squishy pretty sure they came out of a cardboard box from China, and smelt like the back of grandma's couch. Chips were undercooked. Fritters were burnt. Worst fish and chips I've had in years. And to top it all off the service was rubbish. Never again.
Not high quality food with unreasonable price. you guys should call yourself "Stingy" Matt's instead of Stingray Matt's
