We are a Catholic full primary school located in the family friendly suburb of Karori in Wellington.
St Teresa’s School is a co-educational Catholic integrated full primary school with approximately 180 students from Year One to Eight. St Teresa’s School is situated behind the St Teresa’s Parish church in Karori, an established suburb 6kms from downtown Wellington. As a Catholic School, we celebrate our faith with prayer, liturgy, and Masses throughout the year, and we are a treasured part of St Teresa’s parish family. Our school and parish are within the Wellington Archdiocese.
St Teresa’s School was founded by the Mercy Sisters. The Marist Sisters followed, teaching at St Teresa’s for a number of years. We strive to live within the Mercy values of respect, justice, hospitality, compassion and concern for the poor and vulnerable. We also celebrate our ethnic diversity and embrace learning about the cultures within our school. At St Teresa’s School we follow the Religious Education Programme for Catholic Primary Schools in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
St Teresa’s is big enough to provide lots of opportunities, yet small enough to know everyone’s name. We ensure that each child will be empowered to learn and achieve personal excellence. Students at St Teresa’s are supported in their learning in an atmosphere of praise and encouragement. We are committed to high quality teaching programmes that continuously improve the level of student progress and achievement across the curriculum. All teachers are supported in providing high quality classroom programmes through access to quality teaching and learning resources, and a responsive professional learning programme.
