Cute little beach and rock formation about 10 mins walk through the forest with a spectacular rock formation in shape of Apple split in half. The place is quite far drive to get to and most disappointing is lack of parking, so you have to park somewhere in the middle of the road on the top and embark on a short still down the hill through the forest. Path is quite nicely maintained with wooden walkways and some stairs so it makes it easier for kids but may be challenging for elderly people especially on the way back up the hill. The beach itself is tiny and not too much place to enjoy especially if you are looking for some privacy, as it’s a popular spot for locals and gets very crowded. It’s enough to take a dip on a hot sunny day and as a bonus you have stunning views and this amazing rock formation in your view. Definitely worth seeing !
Be very careful if you are towing a caravan- the google map directions took us to the end of the road near split apple retreat and there is only a tiny place to turn around, it was very difficult. The actual drop off area at the start of the track was spacious and would have been great to turn around in. Some parking on road up from “drop off area”. Beautiful beach and views. Take a light to see inside cave/ rock formations on left of beach if the tide is low enough. Safe travels- See more travel on YouTube caravantheworld
After a 20-minute downhill walk, you'll come across a small area with unique rock formations. Since it is next to the private property, the parking area is located a 5-minute walk away.Visited onWeekday
Absolutely beautiful and stunning location, bring some picnic and check the tide but don’t miss this spot when near Nelson / Kaiteriteri region. Expect a short brisk walk up/down but manageable both ways in under 10min. No need for tickets and enough parking space available on the side of the road even on public holidays with great weather.
Beautiful location with a nice trail to get to the beach. Make sure to get in early or else it will take a while to find parking and a spot on the beach. Also, if you plan to stay a while, be warned there is only one toilet and it gets gross very quickly!
Nice beach to visit and spend few hours. 10 minutes walk from the parking. Golden sand beach, clean and well maintained.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
We swam to the rock! Was so amazing! One thing to note is that there is no parking down at the beach area. You park up top and then walk down. It’s a small little beach & if the tide is high not much space to lounge. I think it would be amazing to kayak to it, as there is also some cliffs and caves right beside it to see.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Very beautiful ! If you take the aqua taxi they give you a more beautiful view of it The rock is split because it had glacier water that expanded inside
We were the only ones here for about 45 minutes, and then one other couple came. Definitely not crowded in the winter and we had gorgeous weather. Such a beautiful place for a picnic lunch.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
