I feel like we were a bit misled by some reviews. To be honest, the food smelled much better than it tasted, unfortunately.nIt could be a good option in Hanmer but definitely not serving the best curry as some reviews recommended.nnThe mango lassi was great.nThe cheese garlic naan smelled and looked amazing, but it was bland with not much cheese flavor.nThe butter chicken was good, not great.nThe mango chicken was a bit of a miss for us.nThe spice level of the dishes seemed to be more suited to Kiwi standards rather than the Indian level we were advised by the service staff. If you’re expecting a medium-hot spice level, you might be disappointed.nnIn a busy restaurant, they were efficient and tried hard to service but we did wait for quite a while to order and get served. Before the order, we had to wait, wait and wait…had to grab the menu by ourselves from the service desk, anyway…
Beautiful food and attentive service even when booked out. I would love to have tried more dishes, so we will definitely return one day. A small mishap was politely sorted out by staff without a fuss, and the enjoyment of our dining experience was saved. Highly recommend Spice Village.
We had such a lovely experience at Spice Village. Our server Kat sorry if I spelled your name wrong was so lovely and wonderful and super knowledgeable about the menu. Me and my partnered loved every single thing we ordered. The curries taste so authentic and the flavours were just beautiful. Perfect portions aswell. They were quite busy but the food still came out at appropriate times. I would definitely dine back again. Cant wait to eat my leftovers for lunch!
We just had the most amazing meal here! Service was amazing, decor and atmosphere amazing. You MUST get the curry chips.
Absolutely delicious. Some of the best Indian food we’ve had. Very friendly service and bonus was it’s dog friendly in the courtyard outside. Prawns were sensational.
