Had lunch here after a bridal fitting with daughter across the road. Really liked the atmosphere, large bar area. Great menu. Espresso martinis were good! We ordered squid, fries, chicken burger, tacos. All our food was excellent, good tasty pub food and affordable. The winner was the garlic loaf, best I have ever had anywhere in NZ! The bread was delish and the whipped garlic butter was perfect. Would definitely go back!
Basic, clean, friendly and fantastic value in a great position near the city centre 10 mins walk to Beehive. It’s awesome to see ‘Old School’ pub accommodation still exists where you can ‘choose’ to have a shared toilet/shower space, to remember life before the en suite! Oh and it’s a great pub downstairs with real good food. The mussels were superb. And to top it all - free parking. Thank you - I will be back. Parking: Free parking for guests
We arrived early for check in but they held our bags for us, which was nice. The facility is worn out and the out of reach places had not been cleaned in a long time. The stairs leading to the room were wet and dirty. The room itself looked newly renovated. It had sky TV box that was not connected to the TV and a fridge that didn't work. we noticed the next day when our leftovers had rotted in the heat. The bathroom was small but useable but once again suffered from a lack of thorough cleaning. There was mold all over the ceiling and spider webs up high. The bed was super comfortable and we did get fresh towels every day. It was extremely hot when we visited and the one fan provided was not really up to the task. The best thing about this place is the location. It is a short 10 minutes walk into town.
We have been eating and drinking at this place for 30plus years. We almost always watch rugby games here. Not any more. They showed the game but no sound, despite booking a table specifically to watch the rugby. Told me to move to another area where the sound was on, except you couldnt hear it. The owner/manager couldnt have cared less and was rude. The staff were embarrassed, not their problem. Wont be going here again to watch any sport.
We loved the place, our room was huge. With plenty of character, and straight down stairs for a very nice meal.. highly recommend a stay. Walkability: Aprox 20 minutes walk to the water front. And 1 to 2 minutes walk to a choice of dinning/bars. Vegetarian options: A selection of salads Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp access from the car park.
Highly recommend. We had a dinner of 8 people. Food came out quickly and the flavour was amazing on everything. Service was perfect too. Will be back definitely.
Awesome location and clean room. Always warm. But WiFi is slow. Walking distance from the Gardens, nice breakfast place. The bar is comfortable downstairs as well.
Went to the pub only. Disappointed. The food arrived cold on the table: cold soft tacos, cold mussels. There have been better times, but not tonight.Food: 3/5
Had a great 3 nights here, very affordable food was epic, service was great. Very handy... highly recommend Rooms: 3/5
Excellent service from the wait staff, food came out hot and in an orderly fashion, highly recomend this place to anyone who has a large group.Service: 5/5
