Josh Balogh is hands down the best Skate Instructor I have witnessed. He stays engaged with the group or person, keeps them motivated and works on their weaknesses until they become strengths. He instills etiquette, proper form, and safety into every lesson. With that said, skating is not for everyone, but whether you want to learn how to skate, or step your game up for the 2020 Olympics, Josh is your man. He has been working with my son for a year now, and he is getting the most out of skateboarding he can. Pure fun. I am watching him develop style, creativity, and technique under Josh unmatched.
Homeschool 2020 has been a new experience this year and we're so grateful for Josh and Jake for their skate lessons. My daughter worked with Josh this Fall and she had so much fun. She enjoyed the challenges of honing her old tricks and pushing outside her comfort zone to learn new techniques. Josh was attentive to her skillset and in six short weeks, she was cruising around Sunnyvale with confidence and smiles. Thank you!! :
My 7 year old daughter loves taking skateboarding lessons with Jake and Josh. Jake has been very friendly, patient and has keep my daughter safe while giving her confidence as she is building her skills.
My son Ethan is 7yr old, and he has been skating with Ivan Josh’s student since this Feb as a pure beginner. It’s a fun experience. The lesson was designed to help the student build solid fundamentals and way up to the next level. I can see Ethan is getting better every week. More importantly, he is really having fun! He likes his coach, loves skateboarding, and always wants to learn more tricks. I would recommend the lesson to all the parents who would like their kids to learn, build fundamentals, and have fun with skateboarding.
Josh has an undeniable gift. It’s not just what he has taught my daughter, but also the self confidence he has encouraged. This two-fold approach of skill and confidence building is amazing to watch. We started out with lessons every other week and quickly increased to weekly because her learning curve was so dramatic. Josh’s passion and commitment to the sport is obvious and he has fostered that in our daughter as well. It is a proud mama moment, watching her come out of her shell and laugh with him, fist bump, and then she’s dropping into the bowl pushing herself to nail that next trick down. The very first lesson he taught her how to fall, the responsibility of watching out for other skaters around you, and using body language to communicate your intended movements. Then it was quickly on to going down ramps and rolling into the bowl in the following weeks. This is where we switched to weekly time with Josh. She’s now learning to maneuver the halfpipe, use her body to increase her speed, and to drop in. She’s able to roll out of the bowl and they are also working on the fly out. Getting her airborne is huge! Josh has taken her step-by-step up a level each week. There are frequent high fives, fist bumps, a kind word of support and encouragement. He’s also very honest with her. He can only teach her as much as she’s willing to learn; she has to want it. I’ve watched his other coaches and they are just as amazing. So if Josh is booked, never fear one of the other guys will be just as excellent.
We love Josh’s lessons! My son looks forward to the lesson every time. It says a lot when a 9-year old is willing to get up at 7am on the weekend for Josh’s 8am class. Josh has helped my son progress rapidly and I highly recommend his skate boarding lessons!
My son David has been taking lessons from Hayden for about 2-3 months now. He is a beginner and was not comfortable on the skateboard. After 1-2 lessons I can see his confidence grow each week. Hayden is very patient and works with him at a pace that my son is comfortable with. Josh teaches at a much advanced level, but will come by during lessons to observe and offer tips for students. Josh and team really makes learning skateboarding safe, fun, and enjoyable. Highly recommend if you want to learn skateboarding, these guys are the ones to learn from!
Josh is well respected in the local skate scene for his abilities on a board. But what really sets him apart is his ability to explain and demonstrate the fine motor skills necessary to skate with speed and confidence. I have been skating with my son for almost 10 years teaching him myself. Josh has been worked with my son for only 3 sessions so far and my son’s level progression has dramatically increased. Josh knows what my son is capable of even when he questions himself. I highly recommend anyone looking to improve on a board to book a session with Josh. It is money well spent.
I have been coached by JB for about one year. My goals were to get back to where I was in ‘85, carve pools, slash and carve grinds, rock and roll, old school tricks. We have gone much further. JB breaks everything down in a methodical way and really has you understanding skating and the trick. He gives you confidence in your abilities. JB is well worth it. I would not have gotten back and more without him and his crew of instructors.
Josh is awesome! He has worked with my 5 year old son for a few months now and his skills and confidence noticeably improve every session. Josh is an awesome skateboarder and has a true gift for teaching - he is always enthusiastic and engaging and knows exactly how to challenge his students regardless of what level they are at. We were so impressed that he takes the time to teach how to slide and fall safely, skatepark etiquette, all at the same time as having fun and learning new tricks. We feel so fortunate to have found Josh; my son's lesson with him is the highlight of his week!
