Such a lovely center! The staff were friendly and gave us excellent information! We adopted a little kitten today. To be honest I quite like the new appointments only arrangement. The last time I came to drop off an abandoned cat, I thought some of the animals were very scared of the stream of visitors constantly looking and touching. Glad that only the serious adopters come to see them now. Update : our little calico kitten is the best! She figured out how to find treats from a puzzle feeder and always slows down around our child who has a disability. She even wipes the floor in front of her bowl after eating - a complete clean freak! She explored the garage today and came back with spider webs and dirt on her, so she went on a massive half an hour licking mission until her fur was shining again. I'm glad we insisted on adopting her even though she was hiding behind her siblings at the centre. We love her dearly and thank you SPCA for saving these kitties! Further update - Rosie is 6 months old now and is looking very big. We suspect she has some big cat gene, but she's playful yet very gentle with everyone. we play many games together and we are totally in love with her!
Thank you so much Melissa for donating these free goodies for our dogs and cat. Cat food, dog kennel, dog clothes and toys we are so grateful
Me and my partner were looking for a cute, low-energy cat to adopt into our family. We were pleasantly surprised with how friendly, informative and supportive the staff were in the adoption process. Ensuring we did not leave without all the supplies necessary as we turned up empty handed. All of the supplies were at an extremely fair price and of a high quality. We loved the online booking system for the adoption process as it ensured that when we turned up that the cat we were interested in was available and ready for adoption. They also give you the option to look at other cats on site that aren't online if the one isn't for you which was refreshing to hear. Overall loved dealing with SPCA and we will exclusively adopt pets from here in the future.
Front desk manner by the two girls there are disgusting! If i could give no stars i would ! We came in a couple weeks back and they were more concerned about the fact that their shift was finished rather than helping us with a couple of questions we had. We felt rushed and the manner and tones in their voices made it a very bad experience for us. Will definitely not be recommending this place for friends or family looking to adopt a pet.
Adopted a kitten from SPCA Mangere about 6 weeks ago. The staff & volunteers here were very friendly and knowledgeable. They made sure my partner and I got all information we needed before taking our cat home. Georgia was looking after us when we were in the shelter and she’s been very patient when trying to help us finding the right kitty. I’d suggest people who’re thinking of adopting to not to be intimidated by the online booking system. If you’re comfortable to do any online shopping, you’ll be fine using the adoption portal to fill in a form and book a time for your visit. I believe it helps the staff to prepare for the meet & greet as well as reducing the stress level of the animals due to foot traffic. We have a very happy kitty calling our home his now :3 Hope all fur babies find their forever home!
Great staff and volunteers who work there. We have fostered for the last 4 years and love it. The foster team provides everything required and always on hand if you need anything. If you can assist the team there please do they do amazing work. Always lots of animals there to adopt and having an animal in the house is amazing
We couldn’t get through on the phone so we drove in to see if we were allowed to view the cats as have friends who want to adopt but don’t live in the area. Girl on the front desk was very dismissive and condescending. Turns out we needed an appointment which is fine but we would have known that and not wasted our time if they answered their phones.
Dana was so helpful, I got all the information I needed off her to help an animal i found on the side of the street. She was so sweet ! Please keep her !! We need more people with the customer service skills that she has. Appreciate you Dana, thank you for everything!
I am sure the SPCA are doing their best but very sad. You can not just look around unless you are going to adopt. I brought my kids here cause they are animal lovers. Sad you can't go in like you yester you have to make appointment.
Sadly I had reached out to them for 3 days I pleased to help me I got one txt back and was ghosted! I just wanted help and I got nothing! I still have texts and pH calls I made . I just wanted help for my dog
