TL:DR - they misdiagnosed a fault and missed cracks in our central heating unit that could’ve led to carbon monoxide leakage, then ignored our email raising our concerns at the danger this posed. We had Southern Plumbing come to do annual maintenance on our Brivis central heating unit and check why it was starting to fail to ignite when turning it on we had just moved in and the unit was a number of years old. Firstly they don’t give you an appointment time so expect you to just take a day off work and wait for them to arrive. Then they recommended replacing a part which turned out to not be the problem later we went to a different company who diagnosed the problem from a video I sent him and didn’t even have to come to our house - significantly more competent than Southern Plumbing. So based on the diagnosis we decided to have a new unit installed. The Rinnai installer showed us 2 cracks in the old unit, serviced by Southern Plumbing, that we were advised could have led to carbon monoxide leakage. Southern Plumbing missing these was quite concerning to us and we emailed them our concerns. Also stating that, as they misdiagnosed the fault and clearly didn’t do a thorough job with the service, we would like to know if they thought some amount of a refund would be reasonable. We gave them many weeks to respond before posting this review but I suspect they’re just going to ignore it. Without a doubt would never trust them again.
Called Southern Plumbing and Gasfitting Ltd in a panic as the tap in my laundry wouldn't stop running and was due to settle a house sale the following day. Firstly the customer service chap I spoke to was fabulous, really understanding and helpful. The plumber magically arrived within the hour and fixed the problem, he was a good bloke and very quick and efficient. Would highly recommend and they will now be my new go to for any plumbing I need done. Great work SPG.
Phoned for quote to replace washer for kitchen taps and shower, but unfortunately $285 for 45mins and xtra cost for parts and any over time from 45min was a bit to much for my Elderly mother. Begged my bro to do kitchen at least and 15mins later all done. Saved a bundle good to call on family or friends sometimes for the easiest of jobs.
Great response and service from the team. Would highly recommend using them and have since referred them to family members who have also been impressed.
