Redemption!!! So if you’ve read my review for Monsoon and lost all Hope have no fear, Snakebite has solved all the problems Monsoon cries about. First their management acknowledged it’s short staffed with a big sign right out front. Every server gives you menus and points you to the bar to order and apologizes in advance for and delay in service. I ordered fish and chips , cheeseburger, and some others. They only had two beers on tap, fine less to choose from, could that be on purpose by a savvy manager to cut the lines down? Brilliant ! and so I got one of each. All throughout the ordering process each staff member was attentive, kind and quick to apologize for any delay. Now the fun part. Our food came out almost as quick as we ordered it. They set expectations and beat them. Congratulations to the hard working staff at Snakebite!!! Even short staffed they managed to get us food in a better than timely manner. And the place was packed. We even bussed our own table to help them out. They were so appreciative, so was the couple who sat down at our table after we got up. Running a Restaurant is about building relationships and service. Even if the food isn’t 5 star, it’s good and served by a well versed staff. Keep doing what your doing over there!! We will be back tomorrow for dinner, save me a seat!!! Btw the beers were big and tasty. Be kind be patient. The staff care about you and the restaurant and it shows.
We came here for dinner after arriving late on Wednesday. Not many options for dine in as many restaurants were closed. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation as the restaurant was quite full and there was a wait for your food to be ready. However the waitress serving us was rather nice and told us to wait as there is a long order list. The food came finally after about 20+mins wait. Was quite happy with both our orders. The fried rice or Nasi Goreng was quite tasty and had enough oomph in it. The beef rendang was rather mild and not that spicy . I would rate this a bit average but nevertheless it was still tasty enough. All in a great meal and service was efficient despite the crowd.
Great Asian and local NZ food in Franz Joseph! Nice and friendly atmosphere too! Ample space inside and outside. Friendly staff and quick service. A variety of Asian and local NZ dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant!Food: 5/5
What a good vibe when you walk in. It was a bit quiet on a Monday night but they still had the music playing and there were a few locals there so it felt lively when we walked in. The menu is varied and we choose from the Asian menu. Pad See Ew and the Bau Bun was spot on. Staff were friendly and the food arrived really quickly. Definetly stop in here on your way through.
Good stop in and out of Franz Josef if you're doing anything around the glacier. Sandwiches were good and only $12 for the Korean chicken baguette.. Pad See Ew was about $27 but was well seasoned and tasty. Coffees are tasty and strong and set you up for the day. Good spot for lunch!Food: 4/5
Fantastic spot for lunch on a beautiful day in Franz Joseph. We managed to grab a bench outside on a busy day for lunch service. The staff were really helpful with the vegetarian options and explained everything to us. The food was superb. Plentiful, hot, fresh and so so tasty. Highly recommended Snakebite Brewery if you are in the area.
Food was so good and really hit the spot on the more rainy day that we had. I had the chicken dumpling soup and my husband had the KFC burger, and treated ourselves with cans of Coca-Cola one regular, one vanilla!. We have travelled the world, and he said it was one the best crispy chicken burgers he's ever had. They were understaffed that day so we looked at the menu outside, went to the counter, ordered, and paid. Then they brought us our meals to our table quite quickly.
This was the only restaurant open in town on a Thursday afternoon. It was recommended by our glacier hike tour guide. We ventured to order a beef rendang roti roll and were pleasantly surprised by how tender and delicious it is. The berry cider is sweet and refreshing, but likely couldn’t drink more than one. Beef burger is fresh and satiating. Fries are crispy and addictive. Buzzy place full of people going in and out, nice seating outside on a nice day.
I had an amazing big breakfast. The parmison mushrooms were my favourite part but enjoyed it all. The incredible customer service from Tee was wonderful and her high energy was a credit to this restaurant.
Yummy food, weird poor service. Nasi goreng was delicious and generous portions. The waiter was weird, we just walked in and that was our first time ever there. instead of offering us to see their menu or giving us a table, she asked if we have known what we like to order.. when we said no, she cringe and let us pick a table, then she came and gave us a breakfast menu, confused why we only given breakfast menu only while it's noon, so we asked and she change the menu with the lunch menu since it's actually lunch time. Then we need to ask to get our table cleared she didn't clear our table when she given us the menu, she took all the dirty plates from our table but never come back to wipe it clean... We do appreciate local businesses that probably get very busy all at sudden this holiday season and we do appreciate the yummy fresh food they serve, but still want to share our experience
