at the foothills of the southern Alps in NZ we offer quality YHA accommodation and a range of motels and cottages to rock climbers,skiers and boarder and travellers on the way thru to the airport or west coast.
at only 56 km to the airport ,30 km to Porters and a good range of activities close by Smylies is your place for a couple of nights

Great value, big unit. Meticulously cleaned & comfortable. Big shower, good kitchen. Even had crystal wine glasses posh. We stayed in the dog friendly motel unit. Thanks Colin for a pleasant stay. We will stay again if passing through Springfield again. Great little pub with excellent steak meals just down the road.
Went nearly 2 years ago for a bouldering trip where we hired pads. Really friendly, helpful and loved the vibe. Obviously made an impression.
Stayed here on our Te Araroa adventure. Very cosy place with a nice funny cat. Room is confortable. Amenities are clean, kitchen is well equipped. Loved the interior design.
Stayed there to dry off after heavy rainfall while on my motorcycle. Was super nice with the fire going.
Delicious food and the bath was very nice
Warm, welcoming and homely. Just what you need after days at the boulderfield or on the road.
Very nice backpackers with a homey feeling. It wasn't crowded, so we got a room to ourselves. The common areas were large and well stocked, and the owner had some simple groceries for sale, which was convenient. You can really tell the place is an old converted home. It felt very lived in, in a good way.
