Long time friends, drama school grads and insatiable foodies, Lana & Grant bring you Smokin' Buns!
After 12 years travelling the globe as a photographer and eating his way around the world, Grant came back to NZ eager to take on something tasty and new.
After five years of giving kiwi households recipes every night before the news, Lana was also keen to sink her horn into a delicious new adventure.
After several years of jamming ideas, they spotted a gap, and 'Smokin' Buns!' was born!

Hand prepared top quality ingredients, cold & hot smoked, with gourmet coleslaws and fillings in delicious buns.

In a toasted Wild Wheat Brioche Bun slathered with our own smoked butter, you'll find all manner of home-smoked delights, whether it's the Double Smoked Slow and Tender Beef Brisket, Miso Smoked Mushroom, Free Range Pork Shoulder all with their own Gourmet Coleslaw...We could go on, but we'd prefer it if you just come down and try us!

Smoking Cole is a must do if you are into barbecue  As a fellow smoker, I can appreciate the flavour profiles that go into making such a divine dish. The service and atmosphere are just great  the team are very friendly and provide exceptional recommendations! Jess served us on both visits. This is the second time in the span of a weeks trip visiting this spot and I can say it has not disappointed on both occasions. The meat candy melts in your mouth with a burst of sweetness in each bite. The truffle Mac and cheese is just so damn tasty. I'd recommend trying a bit of everything to find what suits your taste.  Vegetarian options: There is options for non meat eaters, Jack Fruit sliders and loads of sides.

Been meaning to try this place for a while now, and wasn't disappointed. Everything we tried was great, especially the beef cheek. I would highly suggest ordering this over the brisket or pork. We took a seat in a far corner near the smokers. It was a great view of how it looks and works, but you do come away smelling like smoke, so if you plan on going out after a great feed, maybe take a seat closer to the entrance. Will definitely be returning again in the next couple of weeks  Parking: Parking is along the street so grab one as soon as you see one

Their dry-rub pork ribs are to die for  We also tried the pork belly and it was very juicy and tender  On the other hand, some sizes are quite disappointing, like the tailgate chilli, which is meant to be a "big eats" dish, but the casserole was more like an entree size. Same with the mac & cheese, we were expecting bigger bowls. We finished with a brownie with vanilla custard  the flavour was superb, but we thought that the waiter forgot half of the brownie in the kitchen because of how small the portion was!    for $12.5 I wanted to see a bigger slice. In my opinion, just eat meat  you will be happily pleased

Took my dog out to ribs night at Smoke and Cole.  We were very looked after and even our dog got the best hospitality with his own private water bowl.  We had the Memphis ribs and beetroot salad and a couple of beers.and wrapped it all up with a apple and rhubarb crumble  Will be back for the next rib night!  Sterling Arnet Kakapo Business Sales

Amazing!!! First time visiting, greeted by a super friendly host who ran us through the menu and was super attentive. We had the beef cheek twiceit was so delicious that we had to order it again, brisket, half rack or ribs, truffle cheese pasta, smokey corn, beef slider and fries. Can't fault any of the food, the flavours were amazing and the meat was so tender. Can't wait to go back

I am definitely saving this on my restaurant list because every single piece of what we had was amazing. The staff were really nice and helpful from explaining the menu, each dish, how their smoking system works, and offering to open some of the blinds to cool our seating area down. Do expect to leave with quite a large bill, but that's the standard price to pay for good bbq around here.

This place is a must do as a visitor!! Came here twice in one week. Meat candy, pork belly, truffle mac cheese, potato salad, jackfruit to die for. Such a friendly team esp Jess and service - pls open one in Sydney!!

UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO OWNER: Not sure if the owner is serious in their response to my review or if they are trying to throw insults a la Karen's Diner?  Either way it's embarrassing for the business. And yes, this was my first review. The food was so bad I thought others needed to know. --- I hate writing this but our meal last night was honestly one of the worst we’ve had out in a while. I was expecting more after seeing the great reviews. Was stoked to try the mulled wine after seeing the promo on social but when we got there at 6:30pm they had already run out. Our server also informed us that they had run out of all sandwiches and burgers.  So my husband and I ordered the Kilcoy brisket but sadly it came out as a sloppy greasy mess full of fat.  I’m from Texas and have had my fair share of smoked brisket…I wasn’t expecting Texas standards but what we had was hard to eat and not how smoked rubbed brisket should be cooked and served.  The truffle cauli and cheese was inedible.  The “cheese” was like a dry powder coating and tasted burnt. My teenage daughter who isn't a picky eater had the nachos but the portion was small, barely had any toppings and contained the same powdery cheese sauce.  She couldn’t finish it.  We tried a couple sliders that were on special.  The chicken was bland, barely there and the beef was a repeat of the greasy fatty meat we had above.  We left hungry and disappointed especially how expensive everything was.  Hopefully it was just an off night??

Nice wait staff, nice to see a younger generation working Food great Atmosphere was there Go prepared to share, such a fabulous variety Will go again
