Smash Badminton Club in Invercargill is focused on assisting new players into the game, as well as providing social and competitive matches for those wanting to make a comeback. We want it to be fun for everyone!
New Badminton Club in town
The competition is heating up for Invercargill badminton with a third club taking to the courts at the Paul Skelt Memorial Hall on Wednesday 10 April 2013. Smash Badminton joins All Saints (who play on Thursdays) and Southland Masters (who play Sunday afternoons). The new club is currently the only city club open to young players, offering an under-13 competition from 6.30 - 7.30pm, and open age groups from 7 - 9pm. The five foundation members include nationally ranked players Nic Raines and Pete McMillan, however, this club is not merely for the elite. Smash is focused on assisting new players into the game, as well as providing social and competitive matches for those wanting to make a comeback. We want it to be fun for everyone! We’re hoping to attract players from grass roots, to social and competitive players in a structure where they all simply enjoy the game. Badminton is an accessible indoor winter sport, which is cheap to play, and never rained off. For further information simply turn up to the Paul Skelt Memorial Hall at Surrey Park on Wednesday nights, or see the Club section of www.badmintonsouthland.org.nz website
