Story

Hi there, Venessa Smart here. My first encounter with the internet was in my last year of high school. I remember how excited some of the tutors got when Google released the ability to search for more than one word! You can type something into your computer and a list of websites will come up that matches your search phrase. That was a defining moment in my life. For some reason that ability to find a business so easily really appealed to me. That was about 18 years ago.

Since I’ve studied computer programming and web design. I have a great passion for photography too, and that side of me developed alongside my web skills. It was a perfect match. Over time, I’ve seen the internet grow out of its nappies into a powerful system. So powerful that by 2020 we will see 5 billion people using it worldwide. That’s the entire world population in 1987!

I’ve seen how the digital echo system evolved from a place to sell to a place to build relationships. A place where it’s people first. I’ve seen success and failure and I understand how the digital world can make or break you.

There’s no doubt that the world is moving towards online. Standing out online is critical now more than ever. Business owners realise that too, but it’s an overwhelming thought for some. Having a website or a Facebook page isn’t enough, it’s what you do with it that will drive your business online.

The ability to thrive online is of great interest, but most small business owners don’t know where to start. This is where I come in.
