Fish and chips are great. Donuts are memorable. It is very frustrating though that the phone number doesn’t connect. And they don’t respond to the Google chat though they claim to respond with five minutes. So you can’t order anything unless you turn up.

We decided to get fish and chips on our last night staying in Whangaruru and have been told it’s worth while. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t so great. Only half our order was given, and the batter was not cooked through all our items batter was wet and and soggy pale once you bite through. The chips were over cooked making them dry and chewy. The portion sizing was generous though if it had of been cooked better this would have ticked all the boxes.
Best fish and chip shop I've been to. Friendly staff, service with a smile. We stay in whangaruru annually and look forward to our stay every time. We ran out of cherry tomatoes for our raw fish recipe and the generous lady at skipps hooked it up. The kūmara fries are a real treat. Ngā mihi from the wild whānau.
This place is legit. Amazing burgers, fish is deep fried with nice crispy batter, fresh as, run by locals, always a highlight coming to Oakura and buying a disgusting amount of food from this place.
