SiloStay is an accommodation complex like no other, situated in the heart of the beautiful township of Little River, on State Highway 75, adjacent to the Christchurch to Little River Rail Trail. Just one hour from Christchurch City and the International Airport, and en-route to picturesque Akaroa.

Bespoke, innovative and stylish – utilising sustainable products, local resources and talent; nine silos’ have been converted into modern and unique serviced apartments - recently achieving a 4+ Star rating with Qualmark.

The ground floor is equipped with a custom fitted kitchenette for all cooking needs, a relaxed seating area, toilet and external balcony. The stylish and luxurious second floor bedroom, bathroom and balcony are accessed via a sculptural steel staircase. Built for the discerning traveler, each Silo has a wall mounted flat screen TV, 5 channel satellite television, bed head mounted MP3 stereo/CD/iPod/USB, and Broadband Internet.

SiloStay has been designed and built using innovative eco-friendly systems. Wool is the insulation of choice – under floor, in the walls and in the ceiling. A waste by-product of timber production is used to heat the units in winter. Passive cooling in summer means simply open the hatch at the top of silo. Even the waste water system is planet friendly – ‘Biolytix’. The BioPod harnesses the energy in the waste (including the sewage, toilet paper and food waste) to nourish the worms that break down the waste. Nothing is wasted. All the atmospheric lighting, both within individual silos and the external boardwalks are LED.

Clever design is evident in all aspects of SiloStay – clientele will appreciate the ability to house their bike or kayak on the specially designed hanging rack. Cyclists will enjoy the prime location, adjacent to the Christchurch to Little River Rail Trail.

We have just had 2 nights stay. A birthday gift for me from my lovely husband. It was so quirky and fun. Loved the whole experience of the stay. The fit out is so cool, a very cosy, quiet place to relax. We took time to explore the local surroundings. Rob, was super friendly and had time to talk us through places to bike to. Would definitely recommend dinner at The One Next Door diner as well if you don’t want to cook. The food is amazing. Such a wonderful way to spend a weekend. Thanks

Great for a one night stop over Definitely not for a few days. As you can see space very limited. Toilet downstairs so not great for late night visits. Helps to be skinny for shower. But we'll thought out.Rooms: 3/5

Amazing place to stay if you want a unique experience. Great little place for a couple or a family of three to stay. Kitchen has enough utensil for basic cooking. Only 25m away from Akaroa and close to a lot of walks nearby.
Very interesting motel!!. There are several big grain silos that have been turned into motel rooms. All clean and tidy, and well furnished. Still though there are good views out accross the valley of the little river community. And with it being a smaller comunitu, its a easy walk to convenience stores to get some food, or a short drive to Lincoln for a supermarket. This would be a great stop over motel to stay at your heading to the tourist town of Akaroa. All in all I would definitely stay here again. There's nothing else close to being like this in New Zealand. Little River would be halfway between Akaroa and Hallowell in Christchurch. If you are looking for something unique to report back to your colleagues, then stay here!!!

If you want somewhere different to stay, this is the place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the attention to detail in the fittings and the friendliness of the proprietor. Highly recommend.
