SIDS and Kids is dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood and supporting bereaved families.
SIDS and Kids New Zealand was established in 1994 to provide services for families and communities who have been affected by SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Cot Death), SIDS and Kids New Zealand Incorporated is a national organisation of parents, families and friends of children who have died suddenly and/or unexpectedly of any cause including SIDS.
Our Aims
To support, represent and advocate for parents and families who have suffered the sudden and unexpected death of their baby or child.
To provide up to date information and resources to support these parents and families.
To provide support, training, education and other services to parents, families, volunteers, professional health workers, support services and other community groups from the perspective of both the parents and SIDS and Kids New Zealand.
To liaise with and support parent support groups and the other people in the community working with SIDS.
To co-ordinate public awareness campaigns.
Volunteers
We are looking for SIDS parents or grandparents (anywhere in NZ or the Chatham Islands) who are available to be trained as telephone responders on the SIDS and Kids Helpline in their own area.
