This place used to be our goto in Orewa. After being abroad for a year, we were genuinely excited to come back. That excitement died quickly. The quality hasn't just declined, it has collapsed.nnThe beers were overpriced which might have been forgivable if the food wasn't an outright disaster. We ordered a medium-rare steak. What arrived was well-done. Not a bit over, not borderline — well done. How a kitchen manages to miss the mark that badly is honestly baffling.nnWe sent it back and, in an attempt to save time, reordered it rare. By the time the replacement arrived, everyone else had long finished eating. And somehow, impressively it was medium-well again. At that point it was inedible and pointless. Twice wrong is not an accident.. it'’'s incompetence.nnThe fettuccine was swimming in grease, genuinely inedible. Look at the photos. What you're seeing is what we gave up trying to eat and ended up drinking instead.nnThe mac and cheese was equally greasy and disgusting. It was so bad we refused to pay for it.nnThe clam chowder deserves special mention. It was so thick you could trowel it onto a wall and call it coastal plaster. No clam flavour, no seasoning, just starch, flour, and regret. Bland, gluey, and offensive.nnAll of this came after waiting over an hour for the food.nnThis isn't a bad night. This is a kitchen and management team that have completely given up. It's honestly embarrassing that this is what you're comfortable serving people. Shame on your establishment for letting standards sink this low. We won't be returning, ever. Thankfully, Orewa has plenty of other places that still seem to care about what they put on a plate.
We had a great meal at Shoreward Orewa.nMy husband and son had burgers, and I ordered pork shanks. The portion was huge—good for about 3 people! It also came with a big serving of chips, and we had to take some home.nI also liked their coffee machine. It makes really good coffee with crema, and it has a touch screen with a small milk fridge.nOverall, good food, big servings, and nice coffee.
The slow cooked wagyu beef was cooked extremely well, with a flavoursome gravy and the dish not being too salty. Portion sizes are also generous. The waitress who served us didn't smile at us once however, wait times are a bit long, and it's a bit pricey understandable though due to the good quality of the food.
Great spot right across the road from the beach. The nachos are divine, very generous, though on the pricey side. Wine selection is nice, but it’s a shame they don’t offer proper cocktails, only slushi-style ones. Table service was fabulous, however the staff at the till were not so fabulous.
Excellent Everything. Great staff, Great food, Awesome Pizzas, Great Menu. Cold beers. Outside or Inside seating. Just a Nice place.
