We love what we do and we go out of our way to make sure you love our work too. We’re both award winning filmmakers and we know how to create wedding films that people want to watch – no cringe moments or over the top cheesy stuff, just stunning images and compelling storytelling. We use cinema cameras and professional editing equipment so the final product is the highest quality possible. (Don’t rely on your uncle or friend to create a quality film unless you know they can deliver!) We do our best to blend into the background, so if you’re camera shy it’s no problem – you hardly notice things like cameras with everything else going on anyway! We choose the most flattering angles, and we keep things natural and fun so you never have to feel awkward (we’ve all seen those cheesy awkward wedding video moments, they’re not pretty). We work in easily with photographers - sharing creative ideas is a good thing! Filming your wedding is a big responsibility and we don’t take it lightly but we still get to have fun, it’s an amazing day to be a part of. The best way to see if we are the right match for what you want is to have a look at our work on our website, read some of our reviews, and then we can catch up to talk about your wedding and go from there.
AMY
After a few years travelling I did a Marine Biology degree, but discovered I prefer art to science so re-trained in documentary filmmaking. For a while I combined the two by spending winters filming Humpback whales in Tonga and summers filming dolphins in NZ. My work history is pretty varied - setting up a café in Mt Maunganui, working as a Divemaster, a wildlife guide, and an underwater photographer, but throughout that filmmaking has been a constant passion.
I met the other love of my life at Piha - couldn’t resist a surfing fireman - and we were married at Hot Water beach. I genuinely regret not getting a wedding film… what was I thinking! (Being camera shy is no excuse, especially now I know that I wouldn't have really noticed any cameras anyway.)
I'm now mum to an adorable little boy, which disproves my mum's theory that I would end up adopting a baby dolphin one day...
A few favourite things...
Swimming with whales & dolphins, sailing, diving, adrenaline rushes, yoga, mojitos, the two boys in my life.
Some memorable experiences...
Working with Sir David Attenborough
Filming an over-friendly humpback whale who tried to hug me
Trekking in the Himalayas with no experience & a pair of steel-capped boots I bought from an op-shop (ouch)
Ending up in a perfect storm half way to Tonga on an old fishing boat
Spending 6 months hanging out with a friendly wild dolphin (Moko) to make a documentary that premiered at the NZ International Film Festival, and was selected for other well known film festivals and broadcast in NZ and overseas. (www.soulinthesea.com)
AARON
I started making short films as a teenager. I pushed trolleys after school to save up for my first video camera complete with top of the range “Colour Viewfinder”. Over the next few years I heaved that thing (it was a massive camera) with me all around the world documenting the places and people that I met along the way.
Whilst traveling I met my wife and we got married by Elvis in Las Vegas. (Unlike Amy, we did get a wedding video made. Im so glad we did.) I studied at film school in Australia then went on to working in film and televison back in New Zealand.
A few favourite things...
American Trilogy (by Elvis), cinema, tramping, coffee, making noise on my guitar, my family (Awwe)
Some memorable experiences...
Meeting my future wife and Elvis’s band on the same night
Experiencing Mardi Gras in Rio
Working part time as a tour guide on an active volcano
Having money stolen from me by the police in Venezuela
Having my short films selected to play in some pretty cool film festivals through out the world, winning some awards along the way.
