Our food was lovely! Massive plates! Tasted super fresh & would have got 5 stars if I was given a steak knife to eat with instead of a butter knife to cut my beautiful lamb!
Not busy cafe, but good service. Food is not great, but Waihi is not a big township so we can’t expect anything fabulous!!
Place wasn't busy but food took ages to come out. I ordered the chicken tenderloin sliders and was very surprised they had chicken nuggets in there. Apparently they had run out of tenders not sure if they're usually just the freezer version or in fact the fresh chicken tenderloins I was expecting from a cafe/restaurant staff apologised and offered a refund, had to go get something elsewhere. Very disappointed
Food was really good, service was slow and had to ask for the desert menu. Took a long time for the food to come out but the place was clean and the food was brilliant so no real complaints. The servers were accommodating to heating request and changing the channel to sport.
Really awkward and uncomfortable experience, after booking a table and going in - was not even greeted or acknowledged, we sat ourselves down, one staff member on the phone the whole time staring me up and down making me feel even worse. We were really excited because we never go out and this has really put us off dining out in future. Oh and our server commented on the amount of food we ordered for 2 people saying it would be too much was also a b it judgmental. I understand portion sizes being a chef myself but I thought it was pretty rude to comment on.
Went there on Saturday afternoon for a wine and a snack. We really felt like we were interrupting the lady's day. The bubbly wine was not one that we knew. So we asked if we sample first being as they also sold the wine by the glass. We were told no. So we went ahead a ordered a bottle then sat to look at the menu. Only there were no snacks on the menu. No breads. Even the squid you could only buy as a meal. No small plate type foods at all. I asked and the lady said that oh yes the menu had recently changed as no one was ordering the snack type foods. Seems very strange to me. Small plates are very popular. Anyway we left our unfinished bottle of wine and left and will not be going back.
Not very friendly or helpful. We sat outside which was a nice space. Had a Stella and a $12 plate of chips. Chips were really nice but for the price not good value, you'd say that was overpriced by Auckland standards.
Disappointing overall. Iced coffees had no flavour at all. Pork tacos were barely lukewarm and tortilla stale. Chicken strips were bland and minimal portion for cost? Felt could easily be replicated with air fryer and microwave at home for half the cost.
Located next to Waihi Beach, tasty dishes and staff ok. My wife ordered a burger and it looked great, thick meat and generous fries came along. Chicken pie was also delicious, but not recommended for children, it was too spicy for them. My pesto pasta was awesome, good amount, well seasoned.
I had poached egg on toast, it was yum. The girls had these, and said they were yum too Nice place, nice surroundings, loved Waihi Beach
