Overall, Shantytown Heritage Park is a great place to spend a day with family and friends. It offers a blend of history, fun, and hands-on experiences. Even though the holographic theater was not working, we still had a blast and would definitely recommend it to others!
Was good to go on the walks and enjoy the many things to see in the Shantytown Heritage Park. Was also good to go on the walk to the lookout there as well and also see birds and ducks. The train ride was also very good.
It was neat. Not as cool as I thought it would be though but that might've been because our kids were rushing through and sick of travelling. They were absolutely stoked with their gold and the lollies in the shop were nice and cheap. Not what you'd expect from a touristy place. We arrived right on opening and they didn't seem to be quite ready, we waited a bit for the gold panning as it wasn't set up yet.
Spent the whole day. Was quiet. Enjoyed panning for gold and all the interesting buildings and contents. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Great experience. Loved the exhibits and reading about the history. Hopped on the train and went on a 15 min ride into the forest and seen the saw mill, etc. We panned for gold, had an amazing train driver filled with knowledge, and our gold panning instructor was lovely.
