Story

Established in 1999 by Joanne Wide to meet the cooperate catering market.

Originally trained as a pastry chef, Joanne has an extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry having worked in it for over twenty years. She has owned and run a successful cafe and has now built up Serious Gourmet from a home based business to a brand new purpose built kitchen in Penrose. Serious Gourmet now employees up to twelve staff, including her three daughters who are currently employed in the business in various roles. All of the team at Serious Gourmet are passionate, skilled and knowledgeable and strive to provide the best quality of food every day.
Serious Gourmet has developed strong relationships with its clients over the years, and are still popular among original clients.

I had used Serious Gourmet consistently for many years in a 'past life' and more recently I have been able to re-engage with them again for corporate catering in my current role and they never fail to disappoint. Recent feedback from my managers included one manager commenting that the catering was the best he's had in the 15 years with our company. Serious Gourmet are awesome - they never fail to make me look good! Can't recommend them highly enough.
As usual the quality, variety and presentation of the finger food for our private function was second to none. If you really want to impress guests you can't go past serious gourmet.
Hosted 41 guests on Sat 2 April 2022 and was determined that they have a fine food experience.Expectations were well and truly exceeded. Not exaggerating but without exception all guests as they were leaving raved about the quality and quantity of what they had eaten. Thanks Joanne and Shannon

Hi there, I am so very late on this but truly would like to appreciate Serious Gourmet for the amazing service & food they provide. I had to organize a breakfast for our 60-70 employees on behalf of my employer and Serious Gourmet lived up to the expectations. It is a gem that many more people should know about. Absolute stars! Always cater to our last minute orders. Completely delicious food that both our staff and our visiting customers comment on. The cakes in particular are a dream. Our 'go to' caterers in Auckland! Wouldn't use anyone else.
