I ordered and ate mixed dumplings, jjolmyeon, kimchi stew, bulgogi rice bowl, and tteokbokki, and they were all delicious. The Korean food that Koreans taste while traveling abroad makes us so happy. If you are looking for Korean food in Dunedin, you should visit it.
Located in a small corner is this unassuming Korean joint. Seating capacity is estimated at around 30-36 people. Ordered 2 dishes, the Korean dumpling soup and kimchi stew. The dumpling soup had 6 huge dumplings in them and the soup tasted like seafood broth. However, the after taste does stay with you a while as it’s salty. Still tasty though. The kimchi stew seems to be a combination of kimchi with topoki Korean rice cake sauce. The pork slices were a little disappointing but the kimchi stew goes well with the rice it came with. Throughout the meal, takeaway orders were constantly moving. Which means it’s a really popular place. IMHO, it’s alright and worth a try.
Food comes out hot and is good, nothing special but it fills you up. It’s quite cold inside given the door doesn’t close easily and there’s just a small heater by the counter. The seating was a bit old but it is what it is. Overall it’s around ~$20 for each meal, which isn’t reflective of the food quality, atmosphere or service.Food: 3/5
Tried for first time on Friday and was very pleased with my meal. Ordered the spicy tofu stew, hot pot bibimbap, dumpling soup and kimchi fried rice, all were super tasty and very decently sized, I ended up taking some home and had it for my lunch the next day. Great food, highly recommend, although restaurant was a little cold on a winters night! Will definitely be back for more.
I ordered Kimchi stew, mixed dumplings, and Tteokbokki Kimchi Stew tastes good, but it is very spicy and salty. I try to add water to make it balance. The host is kind, has good service, and it has a comfortable dinning environment, but it open at 12:00, a little bit late…
Seoul's the way to go for a good Korean meal, at least, that's the impression I get every time when my friends go! I've tried their No. 16 spicy stir fried pork on rice, which was yum, spicy and tasty but I wasn't really wowed by it, and a little more on the dryer side. However, I got the No. 39 pork sizzling plate today, and my impression was so much better, it was beautifully presented and glossy, the pork and veg proportion was perfect, and the taste was yummy but I reckon I can make my own just as well with the unimart bugolgi sauce! The pork pieces were perfect though, just the right amount of fatty and lean cut thinly, and the sauce a delicious tangy mildly spicy marinade. We also got sides, a neat range of bean sprouts, kimchi, boiled egg, and fish cake, good variety but I wonder what would be presented if I was just dining alone? I also tried the beef sizzling plate, which had a good slightly sweet flavor and a tender enough beef, however I definitely rate the spicy pork much better, it's way up my alley. Not a bad choice for a lunch time meal, keen to try more!
Nothing to recommend, I doubt it's not Korean food. Beef is dry like jerky, rice is tough like sands... Only the soup is just OK level.Food: 1/5
Some of the best korean food I have ever had - very high quality, delicious, and satisfying. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. I recommend the cold and spicy buckwheat noodles! :
