They should have an option for 0 stars. My mother was here for 3 years and while the first few years were fine at Caswell House, when she was moved to Kerridge House, things deteriorated rapidly. Mum was left in a room that smelt so bad, no matter how much we complained.. it was appalling the icing on the cake was the day we moved mum out they replaced the carpet. If we bought mum back in the evening, we would sometimes have to wait 10 minutes for someone to left us in...despite seeing us waiting from the tea room...Mum had an infection on her leg, which was worsening. I asked them to get a doctor to check. Two days later she was rushed to hospital and nearly died of sepsis.. they hadn't got a doctor as requested. The worst though was when my sister arrived to find mum missing in the afternoon... she went looking for her.. no one else did... not even the security that worked there. As it was becoming evening, i called the police. WE found mum down a track where she had fallen... near where she first stayed at Caswell House..it was awful.. of course we complained in writing and in meeting... The next day we went to talk to the "manager" about what had happened, we had booked a meeting time, she kept us waiting for 45 minutes, while she attended a staff member matter. We moved mum to Avondale Life Care in Rosebank road. Not fancy like Selwyn, but the care and respect was 100%. I saw an article on Selwyn this week .... i am going to send our complaint letters and responses on to the Health and Disability Commissioner... they need to step up their game.. or the board and CEO should go!!!!
