Great place for a meal with excellent food for a small town. Apparently Dean the chef just came 2nd in the NZ chef competition! Worth the time to stop enjoy the food and service and then have a wander around the park, shops and marina if you are driving past.Food: 5/5
We reserved seats late in the evening as we had a long day but they were still understanding and catered for us on a Sunday night! With the new covid rules, we could never tell how things would pan out, but the staff here are great and let us sit while we drove back for one vax pass. Aside the mishaps, the team still put on great service and matched it with the food served to us. Everything tasted amazing and was well worth the value with generous servings. Well done guys! Definitely a great pre Valentine's treat.
Great place to kick back and relax with a cold drink or two. Good seating areas both inside and outside. Good selection of drink and food. Views over the Tutukaka marina.
Lunch for two to kick the new year off right and soak up the remnants of the night before - the reviewer, not the driver. First timers at Schnappa Rock, so lovely, cute table, great vino, yum food, then we joined some friends to eat our dessert with - perfect!!Food: 5/5
Extremely disappointing experience across the board! We arrived after sunset, looking forward to a nice dinner, and were given a limited menu. Thus, we explicitly ! asked if that was the menu and were reassured that it would be the only menu to choose from. The kid's menu offered more attractive meals - at least on paper! To our surprise, appetiser, cocktail, and mains were served together. Not exactly the course to make it a pleasant experience. Neither were we ever asked if we wanted more drinks or missed anything. Not to mention we were never asked if we would like to have a dessert and or coffee. The food was even less inspiring and mediocre at best, accompanied by salty chips, only edible when brushed off. The kid's ! steak was served with an even more salty pepper ! sauce over the meat and chips. Even if your kids like that, you wouldn't let them eat it. The whole thing got even more regretful when we noticed that minutes after our order had been taken, a different menu was offered to the guests next to us, with specials on a nice board. It seemed that locals get better treatment than tourists. If that's the case, be warned and look for another option. I rarely feel obliged to write a negative review; in our case, several errors might have occurred, from an inattentive waitress to a chef very much in love with salt. However, here I would prefer if there is the option to give zero stars. In all fairness, confronted with our honest feedback, our bill was reduced by the meals, including chips, and we were politely asked to come again to allow them to prove it just went wrong.
Really great atmosphere, service and food. We had Paua Wontons and Mussels to start both delicious but would say mussels could have come out a bit hotter and then the catch of the day which was nice and light. Would recommend when visiting Tutukaka, even if just for a drink, great setting and service overlooking the water.
Great coffee! Came here for our caffeine fix both mornings we were in Tutukaka - coffee is locally roasted and yummy All the staff were welcoming and attentive, and it's a great location right on the marina with ample free street and carpark parking. Honestly, there's not much choice anyway in Tutukaka but this is a little gem of a place that gives you what you need!
They were expensive but I was ok with that as we were hungry and don’t mind paying for a good meal. What we got was not a good meal 3 measly bacon strips on our breakfast and an inch thick slice of bread. I spoke to the lady about it and she said that’s the std. Well you are not up to standard. When I spend $92 on a breakfast with my wife and boy we expect more than that, I explained to her that I wish I had read the reviews before coming here as they all say the same. She didn’t seem phased about that at all. I think if you are looking for a fair trade for your dollars you are best to avoid snapper rocks in tutakaka
My burger was ok, some of our group got the fish of the day snapper, some of that was under cooked and didn't seem fresh, nice atmosphere though and friendly staff :Food: 4/5
Beautiful setting, friendly table service and superb food! Will definitely be back! Absolutely delish! Parking: Parking was directly next to restaurant, the only gripe is that the parking area could do with some lighting but this comment shouldn't reflect negativity on the restaurant.
