Story

Pronounced “sat-me-ya”

Simply translated, satmya means adaptability or adaptation and originally comes from the ancient Sanskrit language.

At Satmya Yoga, our goal is to create a welcoming, friendly, safe environment for our students to explore their yoga practice. We aim to make every class accessible to women and men of all ages and levels.

Classes are based on Traditional Yoga (also known as Hatha Yoga) and integrate the practices of physical postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation. These practices help expand your awareness of the deeper levels of our being and can improve health, happiness and wellbeing.

Classes are suitable for beginners and those with yoga experience.

Felicity is a registered RYT500 yoga teacher, completing her one year teacher training Diploma in Yoga, followed by the one year Diploma in Yoga Therapy through Wellpark College of Natural Therapies, studying with the incredible Dr Sridhar Maddela and Dr Pooja Maddela.

Satmya Yoga was started by Felicity and her husband Michael who is also a qualified yoga teacher, completing his teacher training with Ashram Yoga in 2008.

Love Satmya Yoga! Felicity is a wonderful teacher with a perfect mix of friendly & professional and the classes are always a great workout while still being fun & not too serious. Love the location with views of the Kaipara Harbour bringing fresh energy to every class. For anyone who's just starting out she's great and I finally understand the reason and correct way to do downward-facing dog I'm a relativebeginner but she's clearly a pro and would suit those more experienced too. Highly recommend!
City is the perfect yoga instructor: she's completely knowledgeable so it is easy to trust her teaching, she is extremely encouraging and welcoming of yogis of all abilities, and she cares about the general well-being of all her students. I can't think of another person I'd rather do yoga with. I have been going to her classes for a year now, and I always come away refreshed and energised.
