Just attended their FREE online songwriting course, and safe to say it’s the best free course I’ve ever taken and better than most paid ones as well. Martin and his illustrious gang of songwriters inspired me and gave me practical exercises to kickstart my songwriting. I am a lifelong performer and studied music in university, but only recently began writing my own music and I can confidentially say this course and this team can teach beginners but also help intermediate and professional writers. Thank you so much for offering this incredible course for free. It’s an incredible resource to be offered to all who are interested. I will definitely be doing more courses when I have the means to!
Oliver Wendall Holmes is quoted as saying something like “Most people die with their music still in them.” Having recently turned 70, recalling this quote really lit a fire under my bum. I have a boatload of music in me and I need to get it out. After a 40-year hiatus from the music world, isolation during the pandemic rekindled a desire to produce music. To that end I took numerous online courses in songwriting and music production in the past couple of years while I mucked around getting up to speed. The missing element, however, was a decent system for actually writing good songs. None of the courses or seminars I participated in were much help. I kept getting stuck in the process or just losing interest in the courses for various reasons. Maybe I was beyond help at this stage was a thought that I had to keep suppressing. On a whim, not giving it much hope of helping me, but “at least I would be doing something” I told myself, I signed up for the “555 LIVE” online songwriting course at the Songwriting Academy. What an amazing group of world-class music professionals and supportive class participants! The insights and invaluable music-producing tips that have poured through my laptop screen during these 90-minute plus sessions are being put into action already and I still have one day to go in the course!. I have never been so encouraged to keep doing what I’m doing with my music. And I sure as hell won’t be dying with my music still in me, Mr Holmes!
This songwriting course has helped me to see the beautiful in the ordinary again. It has not only reminded me of all the reasons I started writing songs but also got me out of my comfort zone... writing more authentically and with more confidence in my abilities and the creative process. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to share my music with other students and hear theirs each day through the online platform and the practical assignments that really help bring each sessions' lessons to life. Favourite quotes so far: "honour the song", "music is the gateway to divine beauty", "all that hippie stuff". If you want to progress in your songwriting, whether you are a concert pianist or a shower vocalist give these guys a try, their passion for music and joy in doing what they love is contagious!
The Songwriting Academy is amazing. I've been attending a Songwriting Masterclass run by Martin Sutton and the insight and knowledge I have gained has been second to none. The guest panellists they have are hugely successful and have so much to share. I've learned a great deal already about how to craft songs, how to work through ideas and record and produce them. After the first session I took on board the advice and the next day I think I wrote the best song I have ever written so for me it's been a massive benefit and I would hugely recommend people attend this class.i also really enjoy hearing the stories behind some of the successful songs written by the panellists. Fantastic work!

I've just finished day 4 of 5 days on the The Songwriting Academy's 555 LIVE coarse and I am beyond inspired. Martin and his team of successful songwriters that are all part of the faculty at TSA Academy are absolutely so talented and knowledgable in the craft songwriting. These 4 sessions have been filled with tons of ideas and inspiration. Martin and his team all share their processes for finding the song ideas, developing them, writing with collaborators, dealing with writers block, arrangement ideas and so much more... the list goes on and on... But what really impresses me most about Martin and his very talented team of songwriters, is their absolute generosity and willingness to share their creativity, their ideas and secrets, with such sincerity and playfulness. It's been so inspiring to see and listen to these "Working" Songwriters. It's clear from listening to them that they are all still love, and I mean absolutely in love with the craft of songwriting and everything involved in it. This 555 LIVE coarse has reminded me more than anything, that we all need to find our "creative self", because ultimately that's where our happiness is. Martin and his faculty have also reminded me that one of the most important elements to tap into as songwriters is our playful side... to just have fun with the process on songwriting. To quote Martin Sutton - "Don't worry about trying to write the next hit song, just have fun with it and write from your heart."
Really enjoying the 555 course so far I have been on this course before I will keep coming back, Martin Sutton has made me cry with his song "Footsteps". The experience of having people who are successful songwriters imparting their wisdom is so brilliant. I come back to the Songwriting academy, relearn and learn new stuff, to give me a kick and get inspired, its just so important for all of us as songwriters to soak up and learn as much as possible and that makes us better writers because lets face it you can never stop learning. a big thank you to Martin and The Songwriting Academy.
It all started for me with a 'Just sign up and do it'... I do believe the greatest gift in life is to give, but through the Songwriting Academy I feel I have truly received. You never know exactly how much value you are going to receive when you sign up for a workshop or masterclass, but on day one of the Songwriting Academy’s Masterclass, I knew I was a part of something special. Martin and his all star team of songwriters and musicians share their songwriting tools and techniques based on their many years of experience and success. They are also incredibly humble and down to earth, and you can feel they genuinely want to help. What I really appreciate about this class is that each day you receive knowledge that you can apply to your songwriting immediately. There’s no fluff, every minute is insightful and engaging. I’m so grateful I signed up! I feel inspired, I have some new tools under my belt, and I’m ready to rock 2023!
They are the place where I go to regain inspiration, genuine connection through kindness and the love for music. Martin inspires me every time I join to any event they do. This is the 3rd time I join the 555 challenge and it reignites my passion to create beautiful songs and share great stories through music. To really make others feel things. Not only all his guest speakers have the same energy as him, but they bring new perspectives from their personal experiences and accomplishments of years of experience. This week I learned even more places to find inspiration and how to get over writers block through the power of stories.
