Salt Streetfood

I never usually post reviews but this has to be an exception! Dined at Salt last night with my partner and first thing to mention here is the decor- its like nothing you would usually find in the North East, or even anywhere else for that matter. Totally unique. It was fairly busy, but nothing you wouldn’t expect for a Saturday night at a popular restaurant and to be honest, we enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks so much we didn’t care! We prefer a bustling restaurant anyway…it says a lot about the quality of the place itself. The staff were very busy but this didn’t stop them from being attentive and asking us if we would like any more drinks etc. Now to the food… wow. It arrived looking stunning, it was fresh, hot and bursting with flavour. I ordered a chicken burger and my partner ordered beef. Both were incredible. The chicken tender and bursting with flavour and the beef … well, my partner said it was the best burger he had ever eaten. So that speaks for itself! We also ordered a few sides and found the variety second to none! There are so many to choose from. Staff boxed up our ‘leftovers’ too so we could enjoy at home which was a nice touch as we were so full! We definitely recommend and will definitely return!

Absolutely INCREDIBLE food, blown away by the quality of ingredients used here. Everything was bursting with flavour. The cocktails were AMAZING my husband LOVED the blueberry donut shake!, as were all of the burgers. The chipotle bacon fries weren’t great, but I think only in comparison to how amazing the rest of the food was - We thought they’d be better as bacon cheese fries! All the staff were great and really friendly. We can’t wait to come back here and will definitely be returning every time we’re home.

Food was edible, although it all underwhelmed. The jerk fries had nothing that resembled a jerk flavour to them and the nduja chicken burger was dominated by a cloying sweetness. The real issue was the service. Everything was running late which they repeatedly apologised for but front of house blaming kitchen is pretty poor. Twice the wrong food was delivered to our table, which makes waiting even worse. Tables weren’t very clean, the running of service itself seemed chaotic with people unsure if orders had been taken. Even if the food had been good the overall experience would have killed it.

You want a burger , look no further. Salt it is! Simple and modern design of restaurant. Great menu. Obviously burgers are the main feature. However, hotdogs and different bowls available. Book in advance definitely. Not place to miss

FOOD: Quality of food was great and no complaints regarding this. Decent meat on burger, good portion sizes and S&P Chicken Fillets were lovely! SERVICE: Service was quite slow and restaurant seemed quiet, took a while for staff to take order yet just chatting away behind bar! PRICE: Slightly on the pricier side in comparison to other independent burger restaurants I have visited around the country whilst working away but this might be due to recent increase in cost of living. Was particularly unhappy with paying £3.50 for a diet coke that was just straight out of the can.

Cool, trendy restaurant , one of its kind in Darlington that's for sure. The food is delicious I've never had a salt and been left unsatisfied. Lots of yummy flavours perfectly blended into exactly what you need in life! We went as a big Christmas party and they where really accommodating. Can't fault them and will always recommend.Food: 5/5

Others seem to love it more than me, the food was nice but just not to my older 51 taste buds.

Food was absolutely awesome, the meal was ruined by a child running round in his pyjamas screaming his head off , the table next to left and we were going to have a bottle of wine but also left early such a shame as the food was great. As I said the food was awesome so it wasn't a negative review , but nothing was done to stop the mayhem this child created , the parents made no attempt and neither did the staff. Ps the child was perfectly healthy and we will be back you just need a bit more authority as I think it could've cost you quite a but of revenue . Once again to reiterate. The food was awesome.

One of my favourite places to eat. Food is always amazing, best burger you’ll ever eat. Plus it’s so quick and easy to make a reservation - just message on Instagram which I love because means you can make a booking even during a busy work day. My kind of place!

Having visited with mates, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. We all had the burgers and fries which were delicious. If I had one criticism it would be that the portions were on the small side. That said, we all had a very pleasant evening.Food: 5/5
