We usually enjoy Sal’s but today was very disappointing. Ordered New York style and crust was not thin but thick def not NY style and bottom was burnt. Ordered an individual pizza with mushrooms and black olives. $2 extra per topping and 2 of the 4 pieces had no mushrooms with minimal olives, sauce and cheese. We also ordered a side salad with ranch and received Italian dressing instead.
UPDATED TO ADD DO NOT ORDER THROUGH UBER EATS!!! Tonight we ordered through UberEats to Sal's. This establishment has never been a disappointment and tonight, that changed. We ordered a pepperoni Chicago deep dish pizza and a personal pepperoni pizza. What arrived was not what was ordered, or what we expected. The personal pizza was a cheese pizza. We opened the next box expecting a Chicago style pizza and it was basically a 2-3 inch thick round loaf of bread with toppings on top. My husband and I ordered something new and maybe that was a mistake on our part but I am seriously disappointed. The Chicago was picked clean so my 5 month pregnant self could have my pepperoni pizza craving fixed. Disappointed that this is a dinner we paid for. We got a notification 10 minutes after posting this review that the order has been cancelled. It was delivered and we will still be charged but it negates the tip to our delivery driver. We have reached out to the UberEats help page to rectify the situation. That is unfair to the driver who is working for their income.
In search of good pizza in florida. Saw this place recommended. First. The pizza is one of the best we have had since moving here 8 months ago. It competes with some of the pizza places in the north. Plain cheese. Large pizza. The crust has a perfect crunch to it while the outside crust is soft and doughy. A really nice flavor. The wings were ok. Nothing amazing but decent. Staff was really friendly and attentive. Smaller place. No AC so its very hot. Little unkept inside but i wouldnt say “disgusting”. 1 star for staff 1 star for food quality 1 star for value No star due to lack of ac/comfort while dining No star due to cleanliness/upkeep.
I felt that some of the other reviews were not entirely fair, especially those that were about deliveries. My family and I tried Sal’s Pizza on a day that Pizza Connection was closed. Everyone from our party said they would be happy to go back to Sal’s, particularly because when we got home, we didn’t still smell like Pizza Connection. There were some shortcomings, but, hey, this is Auburndale. Bottom line: the food itself was good and worth going back for. We ordered a deep dish Chicago style meat lovers pizza and it was tremendous. The bruschetta was also quite tasty.
So I've been trying to find a good pizza in FL, being from Jersey I find fla pizza mostly disgusting. My son is here in collage and I generally bring 2/3 jersey pizzas to him when I drive and smaller amounts when I fly... Well Sal's is pretty good . Not 100% but very close! And very near to the collage. It's a small place but cute, clean and the owner/ workers are very nice... They do a great job... Highly recommend Sal's... Yummy
Great NY Pizza. Great friendly staff. Love the Italian moped in the restaurant. They are the only pizza place open on Sundays in town. Looking forward to trying their Zepolles next week. Simply delicious food! Plus they have seating outside and are located on a quiet street down from the circle. They speak Italian!!!
Order take out, do not dine in. We dined in for a NY Style Pizza and waited nearly an hour 49 minutes to be exact. By no means does this pizza spot slow down however, they WILL prioritize take out over dine in so if you are going for an experience, make sure you time yourself well. With that being said, the pizza itself was amazing and absolutely delicious! The crust was just something else that I can’t even compare and I don’t like the crust so that’s saying something. The service is subpar at best and the table wasn’t touched by our server to let us know the pizza would take some time to come out. Conclusively, I would order pizza from this place again but I’ll pass on dining in next time.
Fast, super friendly service, especially considering we were a party of TEN walking in an hour before closing!!! The NY style pizzas were spot on ... only comment and its not a complaint... more a FYI... the garlic knots are more like garlicky rolls They were tasty... just not what I was expecting.Food: 5/5
Unless you want dollar store cheese on your pizza. Don't order the four cheese pizza. They literally tore in half cheap sliced cheese and popped it on top and guess what. The sliced cheese DIDN'T MELT. It did however have brown burn bubbles on it though. As someone who comes from NJ their sauce isn't bad, the crust isn't bad but the cheap cheese is a complete turn off. The basic pepperoni pizza we also ordered was okay. But the garlic knots had zero garlic on them. I had to put my own. Not a good first impression. It's been a year since we ordered and they're still a terrible place to order from. Their idea of a Margherita pizza is sauce and barely any cheese with 6 spinach leaves on it. Just save your money and go elsewhere. Update: we tried it again, this time with 2 personal pizzas. I really wanted a better outcome. I ordered a white pie with eggplant, and I can't even taste eggplant there's BARELY any between the breading. Third strike. I'm done for good. You're better off with brothers in winter haven or pizza connection across the street.
First time visitor. Lunch with a friend. We each had a couple slices and a soft drink. Nice job on the pizza! Chewy and flavorful crust. Tasty sauce. Generous amount of cheese and toppings. Funky, eclectic decor. Ample seating. Friendly people. If this were a little closer to me it might well become my go to joint.Food: 5/5
