Food was so delicious. Portions were a bit small compared to the price. Sashimi was okay, a little expensive for a small dish with 9 pieces. Staff were friendly and helpful. She kept smiling on her face even though she was busy and tired. Female toilet is downstairs and clean. I recommend to try their squid.
Wonderful dishes, best place for beers and skewers. One of the Best Japanese place in Auckland. Thank you miyu ,Steven and the team for a great service for our table. Will definitely go back soon
Had a smashing time here with friends, awesome welcome with the drums that greet every customer who enter. Shown straight to our booked table straight away. Fabulous dishes to choose from. Busy restaurant close to full at 6:45pm Gorgeous fare, tried a few new dishes recommened by staff who were very attentive, helpful and friendly. Unfortunately as I was famished I neglected to take more photos of what I ate/ordered. Every dish was delectable. They kept food and beverages flowing. Sapporo beer was a popular choice amongst my dinner companions. Helped loosen up the vocals for Karaoke after our marathon feast. Awesome atmosphere, thoroughly recommend. Definitely revisiting. Popular too, so bookings essential. Thank you to our hosts Emily and her sister Joy for their hospitality and their staff for putting up with our rowdy lot We sang up a storm!
Absolutely the best experience dining in here! Always looked after and always great tasting Japanese food. The sashimi is fresh and has the best cuts from a good selection of fish. The grilled food you know has been grilled with enthusiasm and genuine japanese service. I'd be back here more often if I lived locally. Don't sleep on this one guys!
Stumbled upon this place on a rainy night with almost no one on the streets. Walked inside and it was PACKED! Amazing vibe, energy, people chatting, happy staff. It truly made my day! We sat at the bar and it was perfect for a date night. The food was great, the Sapporo was ice cold, I could’ve ordered all night.
Absolutely 5 stars! I enjoyed the atmosphere heaps! The music selection, the Taiko drum, the staff yelling ! Making me feel like I'm exactly in one of the Izakaya in Japan Love it! Chefs were performing their magic at the open working station. Only by seeing that you knew there's nothing to worry about in terms of the food. I love everything I had last night, I praise their service quality, 100% will be back again.
No words to describe the meals we had in the restaurant! The atmosphere is always welcoming and the dishes are out of this world. Highly recommend
Pros: very fast service despite lots of customers on a Sunday night, skewer charcoal dishes had outstanding flavour, good ambience Cons: average service - servers did not bring out the high chair and water we requested and did not explain their ordering system. The non charcoal grilled dishes we tried takoyaki, karage chicken, sashimi were only ok, also just a tad too pricey for what you get
The whole "shoes off" policy is unhygienic and really annoying. It also appears Sake Bar and staff are more concerned about the wearing of shoes on or around their grubby seats and "dramatic drums" on entry than correct seating, customer service, food consistency, basic spelling on menus and bad music. My chicken katsu was soggy, and my friends steak was 15 mins late whilst everyone else is half way through their meals. Several dishes weren't delivered which we had ordered so best be vigilant when it comes to paying, which was a complex drama in itself.
I recommend this place a lot! Enthusiastic staff, friendly atmosphere and lovely food
