What an amazing walk. Did not expect it to be like this. Defiantly a hidden gem in waikato. Only a short walk but its quite interesting. The caves are interesting to explore, touch and feel.nLoved the short walk by the water. Relatively easy walk and only found 3 people during our visit so we literally had the place by ourselves.
A gorgeous walk. If you choose to do parts of it, it can be strenuous. We did see glow worms, but had to wait till it was very dark.
We were on our honeymoon at Waitomo Caves. It was simply spectacular, we took the 45 minute tour which in the end was an hour. They explain how stalactites are formed, the shapes that take on many curiosities. They also sang to us in Maori and the guide also sang great and finally the final surprise we were able to see the glow worms and then we were also with the boat watching them. An unforgettable experience.
Uh, terrifying at night on your own. I wouldn't do the full loop again. But just 5 minutes into the walk you'll see along the forest wall an abundance of glowworms, more than my Ruakuri cave tour. Super cool.
MAGICAL!! Absolutely amazing walk! We did a tour of the caves during the day, and then came back here at night to do the walk. My only wish is that we would have done the walk during the day too, I think it would have been really cool to see in the daylight! However, seeing the glowworms all over the trees and rocks was a spiritual experience.nnAlso, I saw the best night sky and stars I've ever seen here. You can see the milky way here with the plain eye. I'm getting goosebumps writing this review a couple weeks later!!
