Story

The Whangarei Racing Club is best described as a Provincial Racing Club that has one of the best winter racing surfaces in New Zealand.

Ruakaka race course has a unique location on the edge of the Bream Bay coastline – hence it’s logo “where the Turf meets the Surf”.

The Club has a dedicated following of loyal supporters in Northland and a reputation for being friendly and hospitable.

We enjoyed our day, but oh dear, a day at the races is about dressing up for the ultimate winin surroundings which epitomise that vibration. Please do something about shabby courses " Racing NZ " You are killing your cash cow
Horse racing is something special in New Zealand, also here in Ruakaka. Only a couple of times a year here is a racing day, for which the whole circus is built up, including a satalite connection so that you can bet in the whole country. If there are no races then this is a wonderful area for walking or watching a single person who is training his horse.

What a really nice place to visit. Friendly people a d a great atmosphere to boot.
This was without doubt the best example of a bush/country race meeting that I have been too in both New Zealand and Australia. Even though the course is next to the beach it was green Food was great The company great a the beer was cold. Recommend to all who is looking to find the real NZ country racing scene

It hasn't changed in 30 years. Had a ball, lost heaps, but the bus ride out, the meal and the atmosphere was brilliant. Thanks NZ Racing.
