Rua Totara is an original 1950s Artist Retreat and Kiwi Bach.
Rua Totara meaning 'A pair of Totara trees'. This is the theme which runs throughout the property and into the interiors where you will find many 'pairs of things'.
This property is not your modern bach of today. If you need inspiration or some much needed timeout, then this is the place for you. Just 1hr 40mins drive from Auckland or 30 minutes from Hamilton city... Rua Totara is nestled amongst native trees on a hillside overlooking the beautiful Raglan Harbour.
Each item in the bach has been specially found, recycled and spruced up to create a true-to-life 1950s getaway. Rua Totara is made up of a series of small separate rooms which you walk between, under a covered veranda. This is one of the many little quirks which make your stay super unique and enjoyable.
Rua Totara has no mod-cons. This allows you to unwind immediately from city-life; relax on the deck, read a book, write some music or bake some cheese scones in the best oven you have ever used. You will find a great little music collection and an extensive range of books, both old and new.
This property is ideal for an artists retreat, couples, small families or a maximum gathering of 4-5 friends. There is an incredible garden spanning down from the property which has magical spots to relax, explore, read or play. Parental guidance is encouraged for the deck and garden.
She has plenty of sun in both summer and winter, where you can live with all the doors open or use one of the many woollen rugs available for outdoor sitting.
Rua Totara is the perfect place for artists to escape and she has become a favourite for many NZ musicians and writers to bunk down and enjoy the peace. This property is excellent for reconnecting with yourself, your family or just snuggling up to have those well-needed conversations with life, that we often don't make time for.
