Good acoustics. Comfortable seating. Stairs upstairs are quite steep for the mature person. Parking can be problematic. Good stage to work on.
I haven’t been here yet but i would love to! However I was so happy to get a refund when I couldn’t attend an upcoming show. Super friendly and professional.
No matter who is performing at the Royal Whanganui Opera House she always has a wonderful old world atmosphere well enhanced by warm clear acoustics that enfold artists and audience as one. Tonight it was The Last Night of the Proms with Brass Whanganui plus choir and soloists delighting the near capacity crowd with music from James Bond through to Aida.. and of course the proms staples, Fantasia, Rule Britannia & Auld Lang Syne. A superb evening indeed.
Great lively show. Brass Wanganui - great band. Soloists were fantastic as was the compere.
Lovely building and great sound quality.
Always nice to visit our local opera house, especially for St Anne's Catholic School's concert
Love this iconic building! It's been earthquake strengthened and spruced up. I've been on a guided tour of it and love the history hidden out the back. Was nice and warm for the concert last night, there's always something upcoming.
Had a wonderful host who showed us around. No wheelchair access for upstairs. Used for all sorts of entertainment. Excellent operatic sound for up and coming and local operatic performances. Loved the atmosphere there.
Saw Sole3mio last night. They were fantastic as always. However the show was 40 minutes late starting. People were made to stand around waiting for the seating area to be opened with no explanation or apology whatsoever. No chairs were made available to those with disabilities. When the show did get underway, a support singer was the opening act for around 25 mins. Then a break in the show was announced which took up a further 20 minutes. Ridiculous!! Several people mentioned the Opera House was cold throughout the show. A wonderful show spoiled by very poor management.
Have been there a few times, its quaint old time charm has good sound and atmosphere - I have seen a concert, my daughters ballet recital, and 7 days comedy, and I think it would suit most performance types admirably.
