Registered as an Incorporated Society on 1 March 1946 as the Air force Association and awarded the title the Royal New Zealand Air Force Association by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second on 5 July 1976.
Registered as a charity with the Charities Commission (CC3780).
RULES OF THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE ASSOCIATION (INC)
(As related to the pupose and membership requirements)
The Royal New Zealand Air Force Association, duly registered and incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908, affirms its loyalty to Her Majesty the Queen and the Commonwealth. The Association declares its policy as being non party political and non sectarian.
1. Name – The name of the Association shall be “The Royal New Zealand Air Force Association (Incorporated)”.
2. Objects – The objects for which the Association is established are:
(a) To perpetuate the fellowship born of service to Her Majesty’s Royal New Zealand Air Force and other Commonwealth Air Forces.
(b) To help promote the welfare of former Air Force personnel and their dependants who are in need.
(c) To strive for the maintenance of an adequate and efficient Air Force in New Zealand.
(d) Loyally to uphold the sovereignty of New Zealand as a member of the United Nations.
(e) To support the establishment of justice and freedom for all peoples.
(f) To inculcate a sense of individual obligations to the community and to the Nation.
3. Membership – There shall be the following categories of membership:
(a) Full Membership – Open to all persons irrespective of rank or service occupation who are serving or who have served in any of Her Majesty’s or other Commonwealth Air Forces. Also open to adult uniformed members of the Air Training Corps. Entitled to full privileges of the Association, to hold office at Branch and National level, and to full voting rights.
(b) Associate Members – Open to all persons who are serving or who have served with Air Forces of any ally of New Zealand in any conflict in which New Zealand Armed Forces have been engaged, and to present or former members of the Air Training Corps who have attained the age of 18 years. Entitled to full privileges of the Association, to hold office at Branch and National level, and to full voting rights.
(c) Social Members – Open to all persons of good repute not under 18 years of age at date of application for membership, and who are not entitled to membership under (a) or (b) above. Entitled to hold office at Branch and National level, and to full voting rights.
(d) Honorary Members – Honorary membership may be awarded to any member who has rendered special service to the Association or Branches. Honorary members must already be members in one of categories (a), (b) or (c) above. Honorary membership of a Branch may be granted by the Branch concerned and of the Association as a whole by the National Executive Committee. The National Executive Committee may consider a dispensation in respect of a non-member in any particular case.
(e) Life Members – Branch Life Membership may be granted by Branches, and National Life Membership may be granted by the National Council, to a person who has rendered outstanding special service to the Association.
(f) Membership At Large - Persons who meet the criteria of the membership categories [Clauses (a) to (e) above], who reside within NZ, are unable to join or attend meetings due to health, disability or distance; or, reside overseas, are eligible to join the Association as a Member At Large. It is intended that this category of membership is for fellowship and social intent, and is not for any other purpose.
