Riverton Organic Food Co-op

Story

Based in the South Coast Environment Centre, the Riverton Organic Food Co-op has been providing beautiful organic food in Riverton for 25 years.

The organic food co-op was set up by a group of Southland families to support people growing organic food and encourage more sustainable growing methods. They hoped to link organic growers, especially local, with people who wish to support them by buying organic food, or people who need to buy organic food for health reasons, with no financial gain to the group.

Beginning in the Guyton family's garage the food co-op now is open every day of the week with the help of many volunteers from across Southland.
