A relaxed, friendly cafe with quality home-style food and barista coffee served inside or on the garden deck in the sunshine.

Story

Cabinet food, fresh scones and muffins baked daily. Full menu from 6.30am till 3.30pm daily, until 8pm for evening dining Friday and Saturday night. All fresh food is made at the café. Gluten-free options and very family friendly. We have outdoor seating for those sunny days. Dogs welcome outside. Great coffee. Artwork for sale. As the owners, we stand behind the quality of our food and service. If you have any issue, please talk to us at the time so we can fix it. Check us out on TripAdvisor. The best seafood chowder I have ever eaten! The fish and chips and nachos were okay. Customer service was efficient. It was an extremely busy day 26th Dec so inside the restaurant was a little cramped. The art on the walls was lovely!
If you have read any of my reviews then you may know that I am a bit of a pie fan. Well this place certainly scratched that itch! I had a potato top, the potato was fluffy, the pastry was thin and crispy, and the filling was tasty, in this case with a hint of curry. My wife had the bacon and egg, as per usual and was very happy with her choice. I also had a club sandwich, as I hadn't had one in a few years, and it was delish, a perfect 'traditional' club sandwich. We finished this off with a melting moment biscuit, and this was a beast of a thing! Enough for 3! Rich, sweet and with a nice buttery centre. Stop in here if you get the chance to get out of the traffic!
Nice vibes during summer and chill place to hangout if you can grab a table under the umbrella. I had their chicken sandwich which was $7 and lemonade. I am always in the hunt of trying new lemonades and they seem to have a good variety too. My husband had the bacon bap, he was not truly satisfied because they didn't heat the bap and it felt like it was from yesterday and was very chewy. So make sure to ask if their cabinet food is fresh. From Ala Carte my friend ordered their omlette which was very nourishing and he ended up sharing some with us which means good size. We will be back but will make sure to order from their Ala Carte menu instead. Coffee was also nice Good day :
Lovely cafe with nice food. Very pleasant atmosphere and loved the friendly tame sparrows! Was able to dine outside in the rain staying clear of Covid! and remained dry thanks to the umbrellas that have good coverage.
Big Breakfast $24.50. Lambs Fry and Bacon $17. Fantastic meals. Awesome service. Definitely recommend and will call in again.Food: 5/5
I've always liked this place, especially for the outdoor space. The kitchen food has always been top notch and the cabinet food seems perfectly targeted to my tastes.
Beautiful decked outdoor garden environment tucked away amongst ponga trees & hydrangeas. The cafe is set back off the road & remarkably quiet given that it's on SH1. Our food arrived very quickly, and was delicious. My chicken schnitzel burger meal was tweeked to make it Keto and they added an egg for good measure . Best meal out that I've had in ages. I thoroughly recommend Riverstone Cafe to anyone.
We have called in here several times over recent months. This cafe is a bit understated from the roadside but don't let that fool you. It is relaxed and easy to have a break here with parking at front and back. The food, drinks and service were excellent. The cabinet food viewing area is a bit tight but any delays are usually caused by people trying to decide on which yummy food to have. What a selection of food. Yum! Yum! Yum! Boxing day...all the family seemed to be on deck and doing a marvelous job. Thanks for giving up your public holiday for us and everyone else who was enjoying sunny Otaki.
Wow .... we stopped in our our way to Wellington for lunch, went to the takeaway trailer. Kyra served us, what an amazing girl,a real asset. Super friendly, nice smile and made outstanding coffee . The food was super fresh, well presented. Delicious , ten out of ten
I enjoyed the vegetarian meal for lunch. The staff was a bit distracted and looked a bit unhappy which impacted the service. Following your response I updated my rating from 4 to 5. I understand that shortage of staff can be hard and I appreciate you letting me know. Vegetarian options: Very tasty
