We visited on 'Fish Friday', which was enjoyable. Plenty of seafood options. We really enjoyed our meals, our major critism is that the starters were too large, and too tasty, that it took away from the enjoyment of our mains. A nice problem to have! We would visit again, though perhaps not for seafood Friday.
We were very much looking forward to our Sunday lunch here as my husband had visited the original cafe years ago and loved it. I’m sad to say our experience was not good at all. The menu was very limited and the dish I ordered gnocchi was hardly edible. Basically dry cut up pieces of sweet potato, no spinach or sage as was listed and I couldn’t even eat it. A real shame considering we drove over an hour out of our journey to eat here
Beautiful food and great coffee. The cakes are incredible. The staff were so warm and welcoming. Dog friendly too, even brought a bowl of water over for our retriever. Very reasonably priced. Could not recommend this place enough
We enjoyed delicious, wholesome and attractive food served in a very friendly, yet also very professional way. The front of the restaurant is dog friendly looking across to the deli section and out into the town. It's clearly somewhere local people like to meet up and enjoy a good cup of coffee, mouthwatering cake and conversation. We were greeted and served by William. He's an excellent ambassador for River Cottage Kitchen ensuring that we were having a great meal and that our little Yorkshire Terrier had water and a biscuit. We were made very welcome and there was no pressure to vacate our table. We were really surprised that we were actually seated for two hours over our three course lunch. It's good food heaven and actually reasonably priced. It's Ideal for people who enjoy beautifully prepared healthy food served in convivial surroundings where the atmosphere is organic and not contrived. As a footnote if you produce your receipt at the deli you get 10% any of the tempting array of deli and store cupboard goodies. It would have been rude not to! We will return for an evening meal.
Fantastic place with great atmosphere. Would recommend for family go out. Even dogs are welcome! Food is delicious with not every day ingredients like barley, beetroot, wild mushrooms followed by their beer and cider. Yummy
Lovely lunch, very friendly staff. Will be making this a regular thing as we always enjoy our meals here, whether evening or lunch.
Slightly slow service but very friendly. Excellent food including the best broccoli my wife or I have ever eaten. Very much recommended.
Loved it a bit different to usual menus everything is seasonal There's vegetarian and vegan options. We had sunday lunch the meat and vegetables are sourced locally . I had beef very tasty, the lamb was also very good and very tender. It comes with seasonal vegetables . We tried the elderberry prosecco definitely recommend this.
I would have liked butter on the toast as it was very dry and crunchu and maybe a bit of baby leaf lettuce. The crusts were had and the knife supplied was not up to the job
Oh, my absolute favourite place . Your staff were a delight. Food excellent as always. See you next time we pop down from up north!
